Forums - Sales - The difficulty of selling a Wii

So I recently posted a Wii on my local Craigslist, but so far all I've gotten was one reply saying "You can find them in the stores for $250" (I'm selling for $330)

Yes, I understand people don't wanna pay above retail, but I can't help but wonder if I would've had this problem if the Wii was still selling as quickly.

Recently I've noticed in my area that stores are getting larger shipments (at least Gamestops are) and are selling out less quickly, and I wonder if that's a nationwide trend, or just certain regions getting a larger supply.

I suppose what I'm asking is if anyone is/was in a similar situation trying to sell a Wii or if you noticed the same things I have, or the opposite.

Maybe you should try selling it lower haha. I mean buying something and then trying to make a profit off of it only works so long.

Yeah, it's at a point now where if you can't find one, you just wait a while and try again. Now that might change during the holiday season. Instead of lowing your price, just take it off the list until December 1st. You might just get what you're asking for.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

First off...why you selling.

Secondly...yeah, if someone wants a Wii now they know they can find a store that has one, even if they have to wait in line.

Third...you are selling a used Wii (or is it new) @ above retail....it better have lots of stuff to go with it.

If you want to make some money off some poor sap for your Wii, just wait til December. Then I'm sure it'll fetch you a good price.

I think people arent desperate yet for one, but they will be once Christmas comes around.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I'm selling because I already have one. I found some so I bought one specifically to sell.

Also, something I just noticed, new Wii's come with one "Remote Jacket". Cool

Because everyone with money to blow on a wii already has one, and who wants to pay 330 now when they could had gotten it six months ago for the same price. Everyone currently looking are cheap and won't pay above retail. December...? that's another story.

"Why isn't samus in a mario kart game?"

I also think you are competing with Ebay. I'm more likely to buy a high dollar item from a high rated ebayer than some bloke on craigslist. But maybe that's just me.

See the thing is that on ebay, systems are averaging ~ $310 plus shipping, that's why I don't wanna sell it on there. Sure I can over charge for the shipping and make up my losses there, but I don't like to do that. I don't think it's right

I bought one to resell off eBay. Had to eat so I took it back. I got home a few minutes later to find out IT SOLD. DOH!

I bought another one to resell, played it and kept it. They are still hard to find, but folks are finding them a lot more these days.
