england should have blakes jerusalem.......

blake wasn't religious in the organised church sense he was a spiritualist and had visions from an early age, painted far out paintings and was basically a real cool dude, way ahead of his time......

jerusalem it should be for england,no doubt about it......the sooner they do it,the better....

that song is boring

I much prefer the Let It Be idea

Lol, even God Save the Queen would be better than "Let it Be"

In my hour of darkness, she is standing right in front of me

Who is? The queen?

Whisper words of wisdom, let it be

What words of wisdom? Let what be?

It's a lovely song, but it's not exactly patriotic. I still like the edited Penny Lane idea.

patriotic, how about "Three Lions" for the Football games

I dunno. Having an anthem mentioning God is one thing, having an anthem with Mother Mary in it is another thing (especially as the United Kingdom becomes increasingly diverse in religion).

That's a good point.

Come to think of it, pretty much every contender for National Anthem involves religion in some way, except Rule Britannia, but that's not an anthem so much as a war chant.

Ours even mixes the monotheistic God with the Roman goddess of Victory    I'm quite surprised Fascism didn't extensively use it and it was instead only adopted after its fall, and approved by commies too!    Italian politics is sometimes (NOT!, better to say "often" ) incomprehensible even to us

Nike?

On a Google search, her Roman name is Victoria. Interesting, is Victoria Italian for Victory?

On a different topic, Life of Brian is the funniest movie ever made.

Nike is the Greek one.

Victoria in latin, Vittoria in Italian, in both languages it's also the victory, not only its goddess, but in the anthem it's meant as the goddess, and it says that God created her as slave of Rome. Yes, quite emphatic.

And yes, Brian rules!

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")

Fun fact: The UK is 92.1% White. London is 69.4% White.

Which would explain why London hates the BNP (also because Londoners are smartest )

92.1% of the Uk is not white, that is such a lie

maybe if you both produce your sources...?

i know where he got his source from, i found it and it pants, that source was from when the population was at 50 million in 2001 and now our population is nearer 70 million

The bloody government Don't even know the population of this country any more ,they said sorry and that they have made a mistake with mass immigration, so neither mine his or the governments figures or sources are proof, I just know that percentage figure of 92.1% is a lie and so do most people who aren't stupid enough.

in 2001, the UK population was 58,789194 (http://www.statistics.gov.uk/census2001/pop2001/united_kingdom.asp)

current estimate is 61,113,205 (https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/uk.html)

edit: average increase in population for the last 8 years is 290,501

The population was 59 million in 2001 and now there are estimations of about 61 million people living in the UK.

That's a 2 million difference and not ~20 million lol

Damn Spock beat me to it

current "estimate" is the keyword in that sentence, they admitted they don't know how many migrants are here at the moment, im just saying the percentage he wrote down was old and the population has grown largely in that time, so that percentage he gave was invalid, anyway this is going off topic, all i was doing was calling bull on the percentage
