Forums - Sales - Boom Blox Bash Party was a MAJOR flop - we need to talk about it

Did you know that Boom Blox Bash Party has retained it's value better than almost any other video game currently on the market? You can buy it new for $30 and sell it used for $28 easily.

It's still not worth buying.  I might consider buying it if it cost me $30 new and I could sell it used for $38 dollars.

Parody thread or not, I think at least one of the reasons the game didn't sell anywhere close to what the first did is BECAUSE the name had "Bash" and "Party" in it. And I'm not joking. Personally I bought this one because of the good reviews, despite the name. IMO "Boom Blox 2" would have sold better.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

EPIC THREAD.

Pop the cork!!! It's time to party!!!

The reason that the original one sold well is because many gamers, such as myself, were tricked by the media and worst of all other gamers into thinking that it was a great game. The sequel didn't sell well because people figured out that the original game was about as enjoyable as taking a bath in lemon juice with a trillion paper cuts.

You just described Deca Sports.

LOL  I have not had the pleasure of playing Deca Sports.  Is it really that bad?

I see that it's sequel is not selling well either.

I always thought boom blox was a pretty good game.
Not something I could play over and over, but for parties it is pretty fun to blow up their structures, although there really isn't any skill involved which is really stupid.

Are you krazy!

It cost less than $200 to make (they did a cheap port) they made there money back with the first 5 games sold, thats a MAJOR success.

lol

Horrible name. It should have been called Boom Blox 2.
No ads. The first game was advertised.
No hype. The first game was hyped.
Hardly an improvement. The improvements would have likely been just download content if it was an HD game.
Not needed. Boom Blox was still selling well when the 2nd game came out and Boom Blox was lowered priced.

What this game needed was big improvements, hype, marketing and to be released after Boom Blox stopped selling well.

However, since there wasn't marketing and the game is mostly the same, I'm sure EA made a ton of money off the game.

When I was at my gf's sister's house, I thought it was the same game.

Maybe other people thought the same thing?

I never played it either. But the first game sold close to 2 million while the second game is only at 200k or so. Guess people refused to be fooled twice (assuming the first game was as bad as some say).

And people tried to use the sales of Deca Sports 2 as proof that Wii was doomed in Japan.
