I like my options owning both systems, but I do have to say that if only owned my 360 this year would of been very boring. Thankfully, there will be a few good exclusives in 2010 for 360. PS3 of course still running strong both years.

Unless you really really really really really love Halo spin offs & Forza then yes, it was. The first 2 months of 2010 blow it away (Mass Effect 2- Jan & Splinter Cell- Feb)

No matter how you spin matters, the 360 has not had a good year for quality exclusives. Check the best of 2009 thread to see what I mean. Fortunately, it's been balanced out by a very strong year for multi-plats, and an upcoming release schedule that looks far stronger.
ps3 had a stronger lineup, but thats not to say 360 didn't have a decent lineup this year.
Crap, I should have originally posted this in here:
"I think if one looks at 2009, and TRULY understands the dynamics of game development, what one can glean from 2009 is that developers and publishers lacked confidence in M$ and the 360 future. M$ took a basic strategy of relying on 3rd party developers to do the heavy lifting for it, and in order to have a new IP in 2009...they would have had to have started in 2006-2007 timeframe...I think starts to understand why M$ HAD to fund those Japanese developers...as they were just never going to do 360 development. I think M$ has basically won the 3rd party battle, and most independent developers are not going to skip the console...now, it's the issue of how can M$ get it's chops up on fully exclusives for the 360. Imho, you don't need full development studios, just contract it out, and rely on strong and knowledgable development core teams of MSGS employees...own the IP, and have others develop the game...ala Crackdown, and now Halo. "

Really?. Announced for PS3 so far are MAG, White Knight Chronicles, Quantum Theory, Modnation Racers, God of War 3, MLB:the show, Heavy Rain, Gran Turismo 5, Agent, The Last Guardian. |
Both lineups will be really really good thats for sure but for me the combination of Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell, Alan Wake, Fable 3, Crackdown 2 in addition to a host of awesome multiplats give the 360 the edge next year. Of course this is all a matter of opinion so you certainly dont have to take my word for it
Long Live SHIO!
IMO the only people who really care about the number of exclusives own more than one console and Microsoft would rather not cater so much to these whores and instead cater to those people whom purchase most of their games on the Xbox system. Theres so much good content incl multiplatform stuff that it doesn't really matter anymore.
Tease.

Whilst I respect your opinion, I'd have to disagree. The number of quality, recognisable exclusives a platform can boast is a primary issue for people looking to move into this generation of consoles, which, by far, the majority haven't. Any company looking to expand its user base wants to attract these customers.
That said, the 360 has exclusives of this type, just not many recently.

If that were true then the massive exclusive gulf circa 2007 would have meant a hell of a lot more than it did to the relative sales of the Xbox 360 and PS3. People buy them for the content and experience as well as the social aspect of community. The exclusive content is only a fraction of the actual desireable content. Also much of the content which is exclusive tends to excite those whom already own the console more than the people who don't.
Tease.
Really, I think you underestimate the power of an exclusive title. Almost everyone I know bought their consoles because of a title they wanted to play. Of my friends, Gears and Halo were the primary drives behind 360 purchases; SingStar (sadly), Killzone2, MGS4, and LBP were behind most Ps3 purchase; and, almost universally, Wii Fit was behind any Wii purchases.
The power of the exclusives, even years after release, should not be ignored.
