IMO the only people who really care about the number of exclusives own more than one console and Microsoft would rather not cater so much to these whores and instead cater to those people whom purchase most of their games on the Xbox system. Theres so much good content incl multiplatform stuff that it doesn't really matter anymore.

Whilst I respect your opinion, I'd have to disagree. The number of quality, recognisable exclusives a platform can boast is a primary issue for people looking to move into this generation of consoles, which, by far, the majority haven't. Any company looking to expand its user base wants to attract these customers.

That said, the 360 has exclusives of this type, just not many recently.

If that were true then the massive exclusive gulf circa 2007 would have meant a hell of a lot more than it did to the relative sales of the Xbox 360 and PS3. People buy them for the content and experience as well as the social aspect of community. The exclusive content is only a fraction of the actual desireable content. Also much of the content which is exclusive tends to excite those whom already own the console more than the people who don't.
