Forums - Nintendo - Capcom brings MT Framework to Wii (engine behind RE5, LP, SF IV, etc.)

Dead Rising had a large number of design areas. Even if they weren't that impressive on the Wii, they were there. So if there is a hit, that isn't one of them. And there won't be that many enemies at once either.

I think RE5 and LP2 are MT Framework 2.0

Street Fighter IV is a different engine entirely for whoever mentioned it.

Nah, Street Fighter was MT Framework too.

“Both ‘Resident Evil 5‘ and ‘Street Fighter IV‘ were designed for high-definition graphics systems using Capcom’s current in-house engine called MT Framework.

As to RE5, my only guess is that the horsepower needed for the co-op wasn't there. Keep in mind that I don't at all firmly behind that belief.

This was in an earlier post.

I realized it might be a good idea to check the Capcom boards.

According to Sven, it's mainly "an attempt at a consolidation of development pipelines and tools". He gives no further information, but aside from a warning not to read too much into it, he gives no further info.

So the only thing I will read into this is that they are working on this and will announce more when there is more to announce.

I am fantasizing that they are doing this for the next Wii, that they have at least alpha specs from Ninty already :p

The context of Sven's reply didn't make it look like that. It really looked as though this is about making current Wii development easier.

Capcom stated a while ago they made the wrong bet against the Wii. This is a way of making sure they can support it better.

The RE series has sold well on Wii, Okami also doing good. I am scared of RE5 on Wii, will it work? RE5 probably out of the question, just future games.

Games like Totsunoko, RE: DC can actually be multiplats too.

If it adjusts to the Wii well, RE5 would work a lot better than many think, since it's using those tools and not an entirely new engine.

But the Wii games to HD wouldn't be that much easier. Porting isn't tranfering a game. It's like building a house, and you can even reuse the same materials have the time.

I wouldn't be suprised if this is actually in preperation for the WiiHD. Its really late for Capcom to begin making multiplatform games for the Wii. Can the Wii even handle the engine? I bet Capcom knows about the next Wii and is really preping the engine for that platform and not really for the Wii. I mean Capcom can't come out and say "Were porting our engine to the next Wii" , but they have to say something so saying something like "Were porting our engine over to the Wii" makes far more sense!

If Capcom is actually bringing their engine to the Wii I have to say I don't care to see it died down. I mean look at CallOfDuty's engine that was ported. CallOfDutyWaW was utterily horrible compared to the 360 counter part. Just look at screens for ModernWarfare the game looks horrible. I think games built for the HD consoles should remain exclusive to the HD consoles and games built for the Wii should be exclusive to the Wii.

Of course I know many fans who only own Wii's must be loving this news. Finally the oppertunity to play all those games they missed out on. But for any multiplatform owner this just seems stupid.
