Assuming the 39% drop is for the whole Others region, PES 2010 only sold 510k combined on all platforms. Also assuming the PS3 gets ~75% of all sales, due to the higher userbase in all countries outside of the UK (75% of first week PES2009 sales came from the PS3 version), the first week sales for PES 2010 on the PS3 are 385k, which is about 250k less than last year ! (The 360 would get 80k units less)

That COULD mean that the 360 version's first week sales of FIFA10 outsold PES2010's whole first week sales !!!!

Considering he probably only has preliminary numbers at the moment it seems unlikely it will be that close. If it would be 249k it could just as easily end up above 250k

Why does PES always drop 1-2 weeks after Fifa? That has to hurt their sales somewhat.

You'd never see EA or 2K delay on of their NBA titles a week.
