w00t! i have been very temped to get netflix for quite a while, especially since last year when the 360 got this service. i think this is the straw that breaks me down as long as the service isn't implemented like crap.

Yep I had my Gold membership free trial for a month on my 360 and it was super awesome. I was VERY tempted to pay for live gold for the Netflix alone.
The bluray disk thing is a little weird but I definitely won't mind not paying the extra $50 per year to stream from my PS3. This is awesome, awesome news.
ps3 is clearly the best choice to watch movies on now.
...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...
PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk
really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Your right, it was only a matter of time. The goal for Netflix is to have this streaming service to ALL the consoles. The CEO of Netflix Reed Hastings said it himself a month ago.

The only problem with your plan is the Watch Instantly movie library is extremely limited. You will still need to buy/rent newer releases via the PSN store or other outlet.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.

This is my two cents. Netflix uses a M$ technology called 'Microsoft Silverlight' for streaming and I am pretty sure the same or some variant gets used in XBL netflix.
I am pretty positive M$ would never let Netflix use the same tech for PS3 in which case they have to build a new application from the ground up, which will take time.
Also as I read in some other thread, M$ might have a 2 year exclusivity with Netflix for the software solution.
In any case, thanks to the Blu-ray added functionality, Sony and Netflix were able to find a workaround to the problem.
