Can anyone tell me why Nintendo would launch their next gen console in 2010 or 2011?

1986,1991,1996,2001,2006 These are the years in which nintendo releases a new console fully in America. If you see the diffrence in which they were released. 5 years is their stredgy. Also it follows a other pattern .Nes was a revolution.SNES perfected it.N64 was a revolution. GC perfected it. Wii is a revolution. Wii 2 will perfect it. Also the revlution system's year ended in 6. The one perfected system ends in 1 There is your answer

your argument is terribly flawed, first off trying to discern trends from numbers in the past, or numerology isn't a reliable argument. Secondly N64 was not a revolution but an evolution, Nintendo was following where PC's were going, only NES and Wii have been revolutionary Thirdly, NES was launched in NA in 1985, not 86, and was released in Japan in 1983, meaning it was seven years before it's successor was released. Also here is something your forget, expect for the NES, Nintendo never launches first

Someone didn't read the post right. I said the NES was relesaed FULLY in NA 1985 was a test and only in New york. 2nd N64 was a revolution. It revlutionized 3-D gaming. Their is a reason why mario 64 is hailed as the most innovated game 3rd Nintendo killed a cash cow before. The GBA relesed 2001. DS 2004. 3 year diffrence!

It was released in Japan years before, and saying fully released in 86 in NA is just proving my point, you're trying to shoehorn the data into what you want, why is the NA dates any more important than the Japanese dates? N64 wasn't a revolution, 3D was already in existence on the PC and even the SNES, N64 was just an evolution of the hardware The only reason they killed the GBA cash cow was because of the PSP, they needed to cut off Sony's new hardware, but Sony and MS aren't launching new consoles in 2010 and probably won't in 2012 either, so no need to cut them off.

Well actually the DS was announced and released early due to the psp. Its was to test that blue ocean thing. I would keep going though I saw you argueing with famousringo. And you seem a bit stuborn. So it'll go on forever if we keep going. Also I said that there is a chance for it coming out see ya

Don't think of it as next gen, think of it like the Gameboy Color.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

1991, 1996, 2001, 2006 that is enough to start a pattern.  Arguing over the NES that came out 25 years ago when console gaming was dead seems kind of trivial.  I agree that you have to take all factors into consideration and it doesn't mean wii will come out in 2011.

No any statistician, would tell you, that you lack enough data points to get a trend Actually the NES is the perfect thing to argue over, because off all of Nintendo consoles, its most like the Wii

yes the NES is most like the wii, but the market is radically different now.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Please tell me that was a joke. NATAL is not a threat in and of itself.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Does he realize that for Wii "bad sales" means ~180k/week WW and that a $50 cut was enough to take it again over 300k/week?
A Wii HD? Not before 2012 (in the worst case for Nintendo), unless with "Wii HD" he means a normal Wii, just with built-in upscaling and HD output (but except this, the same original Wii, with total bidirectional compatibility).
Besides sales, profits and market leadership, Nintendo has a prestigious goal to reach: selling Wii at least until it exceeds 100million units sold, being the first ever to have both a portable and a home console in the same gen exceeding that threshold.

TGS, Third Grade Shooter: brand new genre invented by Kevin Butler exclusively for Natal WiiToo Kinect. PEW! PEW-PEW-PEW!

I guess he'll keep saying this till it happens. Until then just replacing a date for each time he wants to push it.

2010? Too early, he needs to rethink what he's sayin before he just blurts it out

=D

I'm thinking 2011, which is what the Square-Enix president has said as well (maybe even summer 2011).

I think Nintendo will wait and see how the Sonywand and Natal are received first and will want to really one up that, not just throwing out some version of the Wii with HD graphics.

There is a chance you may see DS2 next year, maybe for Japan only at first though.

My guess is summer-fall 2011 Wii 2 will come out, but Nintendo will continue to sell the old Wii for a couple more years past that. Maybe even redesigning it to be even smaller/more cost efficient. Apple still sells the basic "vanilla" clickwheel iPod model next to the fancy schmancy touchscreen model.

Hardware revisions are actually good business too, especially if the hardware is profitable to begin with.

I wouldn't count on it, but if it does show up, I don't think it'd be more than a Wii that can upscale to 720p or 1080p - that is, an incremental improvement, not an entirely new platform. Something that would otherwise be the exact same as a Wii.
