I think that there is going to be a trend of more 2D coming out. People still enjoy playing them and they are easier to make, so why not?

There's something about 2D games that can't be translated into 3D. People continue to love it; just have a look all the games listed in the news-section of 2Dgaming.net
3D will never replace 2D; both will continue to co-exist.
