Strange. I've heard the 360 is $3 billion in the hole. But if Sony down only $1.3B, MS must be making a profit.

That $1.3B number was from FY2009.  Microsoft as a company makes money like it grows on trees, it just that heir gaming division since its inception is $5.7B in the hole.   They recently restructured that division to include other things like the Zune.   So its going to be difficult to determine what the Xbox brand is doing anymore.  But they werent the only ones to do it.  Sony did it as well with their gaming division.  

LOL! You need to relax and see the bigger picture here.

OT: I believe Nintendo was quite comfortable with the NES as well...till the Genesis came and started to take marketshare away.

Honestly, some arguments are really "funny"

The truth is that SONY had a big potential in its hands for PS3 and they "did not repeat PS2 success"

But from custmer perspective this is much more pleasant situation

And I am still pretty sure that PS3 will finally beta X360 (however who really cares... except shareholders :-o)

yea, Is it just me or more people seem to think when the new systems get released the current system's will not have viability as an alternate purchase instead of the much newer machine's?

just because the new machine's get released does not mean this generation will be over with. this generation will be over with when the

Nintendo Wii is off the shelves and are not in production,

so I ask when do people think that will be the case 1 year, 2 year's 5 more year's?

the blunt truth this generation is not going to end for quite some time, for the simple point is these machines will all be quite viable even when the new system's get's released unless the companies decide to stop production. which the way these system's keep selling that would not be for quite some time also. the very fact that there is so many product's right now the game companies are in no big hurry to start up the next generation right now.

That's true the PS3 has a lot of life left in it.  With the blu-ray space on a Ps3 disk it can go for miles.  Think about Mass Effect 2 for the 360.  It has to be on 2 disk.  If it was on the PS3 it would only be 1.  So the technology is there and the great games are going to keep getting better.  Read plenty of articles that conclude the space hasn't been maxed on the PS3 when they develop games.  Its different for the 360.  The Wii OMG let's not go there.
