^ LOL...so much for the video store!
Does nintendo even care? other than their virtual store they don't seem to care too much about online.

They'll probably have both. The rentals and movies are 1 time fees, whereas netflix is streaming. Also, the rentals and movie sales will still go to the PSP because as far as I've heard, there are no plans to stream netflix through the PSP. |
True...it just seems like it's going to chop the video off at the legs...but I'm sure they would rather have the Netflix feature over video store sales. I was just reading an article in the Oct 09 Wired print on Netflix, and how they are really pushing the bounds. Of course, sony probably offered them a sweet deal on Sony Studios movies to Netflix's portfolio, and they couldn't pass that up.
They are really going to challenge premium channels on cable TV, and it's sweet, imho. The article talks about how this is the real threat to DVDs. You can probably assume that this service will be only for US...maybe NA.
If Wii and PS3 have Netflix, the 360 having Netflix could hardly be called a Gold Membership benefit. I think MS may cut a deal to keep it exclusive.
Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

Well, so much for that theory. PS3 Netflix is official, and there does not appear to be a charge besideds the Netflix subscription. Will MS counter by opening netflix to Silver members? Or will they somehow offer a better netflix experience.

^ Dunno, but M$ can't offer up Netflix as a reason for gold membership anymore...facebook, etc...blah. We need a deeper selection of 50% specials, and also...M$ needs to launch some new release XBL games at the discounted rate...ala CDs and DVDs in week 1...not to mention full games at a discounted rate, ala Steam.
I doubt the Iphone could even stream a movie before the battery died.

ROFLOL...i thought they really worked on the battery for the new Iphone and Ipod Touch?
@ Leo-J...I think Wii is next...in short order...it's just an issue of finalizing the details. If anybody gets a chance...they need to check out that Oct 09 issue of Wired magazine (it's not posted to their site yet)...the CEO is really really big on DD, and he wants it in EVERYTHING...he'd put it in kitchen applicances if he could.
