how in the hell was development cost 100 million dollars?!?!

Development and testing of all the peripherals????  Thats all I can come up with

This is a very good point. Developing various hardware can be incredibly expensive. They had to make a different wireless controller for every single system too. Not only that but Konami owns the rights to the DDR style gameplay and I believe their patent extends to the music genre too, so they have to pay fees for that.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

... Wow.

shocking.... I guess though it was mainly because they had to purchase a whole company to get started. But still, there is 700M in revenue somewhere

100 million dollars?!!! WTF?!!

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Wow, I tought rockband was more of a cashcow. You know, because they were milking it.

hum ... surprising

Time to Work !

Looks like a lot of it was upfront costs though so profitability for Viacom should be just around the corner.

That's what I was thinking...

I mean, this included the $150mil to purchase Harmonix, so they're at least even without it. I don't know if they're making more or less profit now than when Rock Band initially came out, though.

Wow.

That is pretty shocking.
