I don't think 'PS3 fanboys' as people keep calling them are any more guilty than 360 fans. Especially if you start looking back about 2-3 years ago, when the Wii and PS3 just came out. The 360 fans were the ones pointing fingers at both consoles and stating their console was superior. Now its just a different time when the PS3 has gained momentum and its popular to back it. The bigger problem is, this gen has turned more into the 'HD' fans vs the 'Nintendo' fans. I don't even like to make it about that, as many people who own a Wii or DS also own a 360 or PS3, but that's how many people are treating it. Often times whenever there's a new release of a Wii or DS game, there's inevitably a horde of 'HD' fans who descent on any thread or discussion site of that game like a plague feeling its their duty to call the game 'kiddy' and 'for kids' and 'sucks cuz its on the Wii'. Even if its something along the lines of Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Metroid Prime Trilogy or heck, games they have on their own 'HD' systems like LEGO Batman. This is the real 'fanboy' and they show up every time there's discussion about a Wii game. That transcends any petty squabbles people may have about FFXIII being exclusive or Uncharted 2 not being on the 360. And a large part of why this is so stupid is because you know if those games were on the 'HD' systems, no one would give them a second look. Muramasa: The Demon Blade is being called kiddy by a TON of people because its on the Wii, yet you know if it was on PS3, it would be deemed a 'hot niche game along the same vein of Disgaea 3'. The same people who whine and moan about the Wii being kiddy, and many who whine and moan about 'console exclusivity, are the same people who only buy games based on console exclusivity and what reviewers tell them to. |
The funny thing is that I don't remember the 360 fanboys actually roasting the Wii fanboys. After the second year the 360 fanboys pretty much ignored the Wii and focused purely on the PS3. The Wii owners were even bashing the PS3 for its high price and lack of titles in its first two years. I remember the 360 and Wii owners banded together and formed this "Wii60" gimmick against the PS3, basically flaming everywhere telling undecided gamers to get a Wii60 for the price of a PS3 and remarkably enough, the arguments won; however, in 2008 Sony responded with MGS4. PS3 fanboys back then still ran the site, but they could barely argue against the Wii60 fanboys as they actually had a point. They were annoying, but they had a point. Crap, I believe the Wii60 website still exists too.
I believe the HD console fans vs the Nintendo fans started after the weak showing at E3 for the Wii's holiday 2008 offerings. 360 fanboys started retracting their statements and started backing away from the Wii owners on forums and stood alone against Sony and just flat out ignored them (wow...forum wars). The HD war basically took shape and now look where we are. I will admit it though that Microsoft took away Sony's 3rd party power (someone had to do it) and turned this into a battle of exclusives. Every system has their year, but fanboys refuse to shut up about it. PS3 fanboys don't shut up and in most cases refuse to see the beauty in both systems collections. I've seen 360 fanboys jump on PS3 offerings, but I prove them wrong on GT sometimes. I never really have to get into it with them. PS3 fanboys complain about everything on that website from giving Uncharted 2 less than a 10 to the quality of GT's video player. It's just soooooo annoying. Those those players are expensive man.
