Actually if you are an "old-guy" and you've started like this... there must be something wrong with you.

...But just because the games aren't graphical, as long as their innovative are very fun. I prefer playing Civilization 2 over Civ 3. Civ 3 is more graphical, but I feel 2 has more intuitive gameplay. I play Chrono Trigger over FFVII due to a (IMO) better storyline. By saying Wii games have poor lasting appeal proves your ignorant. The control device doesn't change a games gameplay one bit. Zelda TP wasn't reduced it size due to the device. The mouse being used in tons of games never changed their replay value - neither will the Wiimote. Buying an HDTV doesn't open you up to a PS3 - it's only the other way around. I want an HDTV because of my 360. A normal person didn't think "oh, DVDs are out, I must buy a PS2!" I know many people that have HDTVs and don't care about video games in the least, nor the PS3s blu-ray ability. Just because the PS3 has Blu-Ray means nothing even if many HDTV owners minds, as it's still a gaming system that has the ability to play disks. And if it's anything like the PS2-DVD drive, I want nothing to do with it. Also, buying an SDTV is still a decent idea. Why? I can get a TV with twice the size for half the price. I'm not saying I'd want that, but if I didn't have the cash, I would. Thats kind of like saying "the PS3 has more power, you should buy it merely based on power" when some consumers don't really care. HDTV penetration at the rate of purchase has just finally overtaken SDTV sales. This shows that HDTV is only now slightly ready for the mainstream marketplace - and won't truely get to the point it needs to until a 32" HDTV is under $449 readily available. I compare the Mouse to the Wiimote - theres a HUGE world of difference between an accessory and an integral part of the gaming hardware. Not everyone likes a mouse, but many still will have to use them for things. Using a mouse in RTS point-and-click games gets VERY annoying, but it still allows for a new way to play that makes me enjoy the mouse, regardless of the price I pay for it. And how much have you played with a Wiimote? Also, have you played a PC game that uses alot of mouse movement for 3+hrs? You get used to it! Also, in the consumers eye, I haven't seen much negative press on the Wiimote itself. It's been overwhelmingly positive. Therefore, its not entirely a fad. It might not be the thing every system has in 5 years, but its a very important part nontheless.

I refuse to believe Soulxxx is being serious in any of his comments. Bottom line: Its absurd to say PS3 is "winning" the next-gen console race when it is neither the highest selling console, nor the fastest selling console. The fact that it had the second best launch of the generation is little consolation when in Febuary in NA, its was the SEVENTH best-selling hardware of the month, literally behind EVERYTHING being actively supported... That's just sad, and it doesn't get better from here just due to graphics.

I have one more question if you start to like the way the Wii mote controlls a game why can't it last for more than 2 years? Example fps, I am really bad using a second analog stick so for me if the wiimote works I think I would love to play more fps in the future on the Wii. So far I haven't bought a Wii so I can't say that it is so. Now I would rather play Fightnight with Wii controls and bad graphics than I would play with a regular controller and the best graphics in the world. It is simple like this: Just because you don't like a controll model it doesn't mean that nobody like it. Something I might point out is that I aren't after realism, if I were I would have played the sports myself. I want fun! If this comes in terms of pretty graphics or a new controller I don't know. But so far people seem to think that Wii sport is really fun. What could happen with a deaper game like Virtua Tennis comes to Wii? So bottom line is: Even if you think Graphics is everything their is some of us that don't think that. Looking at the Japanse charts I would say that there is at least 1,2 million japanse that agrees with me (Wii Sport sold). For me, Wii, xbox360 and PS3 is next gen because the deliver something new to the gaiming scen. EDIT: Forgott to say that no it doesn't matter if PS3 is selling more than xbox360 did one year ago, when xbox360 now is selling more. Even more important Wii is selling more too.

1. DMC is just more to come. Sony will only be able to keep the 1st/2nd party games. The rest will come to 360/Wii. More likely 360. 2. PS3 was killed by 360 in Nov/Dec. It was beat in Jan. The only place PS3 is, and probably will continue, to beat the 360 is Japan. It will take a few months to really see which one will do better in EU. March will NOT be a good indicator as that is the launch. 3. BR and HDDVD are useless for games. They don't need anywhere near that amount of disc space. All you are going to have is tons of empty space on a BR disc for Sony. MS was smarter to use regular DVD's as the DVD9 spec is perfectly suitable for any game. HD visuals or not. The code just doesn't require that much space. Look at the most massive and beautiful games on a pc. None are on more than one DVD. Also, earlier you mentioned that BR is better than HDDVD in all aspects. Yeah, the only difference, for a consumer, is space. Although I'm an all around gamer, I actually buy the fewest games on PC anymore, but if I had to chose, I'd still give up my consoles before my PC, I personally would lose far more if I were to give up my PC. And if something goes wrong with it, I can fix it myself. :) I have a ton of games that I'll never find on consoles installed on here like Civilization 4, Homeworld, and Total Annihilation (I'm waiting for Supreme Commander to fix a few more things) along with a few games that are, like Oblivion, Thief 3 and Unreal Tournament, and I'll gladly take a keyboard/mouse over a gamepad for these games anyday of the week. To me, consoles have their place, but replacing the PC is ridiculous. Outside of Metroid Prime, I've never enjoyed a FPS with a controller, it's a poor control scheme IMHO. After playing Zelda : Twilight Princess on the Wii-mote, I have no reason to use a gamecube controller for it, I *PERSONALLY* am far more effective with it in every aspect, especially swordplay. I died more in Windwaker than I did in Twilight Princess. ;) And as for Red Steel, my accuracy was far superior than anything I'd ever get with a conventional gamepad. This is of course my own experience, YMMV.

In fact even if you have the money it is not as easy to advice against an SDTV. Especially cheaper HD Displays have sometimes very bad scalers that somketimes don't even even interpolate correctly from interlaced to progressive images, and their scalers... leave a lot to be desired. And their color space is rather limited compared to the good old CRTs. And even when you switch to HD Displays (better CRTs simply vanished from the market) I am not really sure if all plays for HD. I don't really think, that the DVD really won due to its better quality alone. It simply had a lot of convenient features and this package was one of its reasons (together with the ability of the playeras to play VCD, SVCD and later DivX). I am not sure if the HD DVD or BluRay will really win the market. I am not even sure if the movie industry really want to kill the DVD anymore. The copy protection of the HD DEiscs has its limits while the price of DVDs is so low that it has no longer such a big need for a strong copy protection. It is simplyx more convenient. There would be a very strong reason for expensive HD Discs (if HD DVD or BluRay does not matter) for enthusiasts and cheaper DVDs for the normal market. Together they will probably earn more money than a HD format with lower prices to reach more customers. Although Toshiba and Sony wouldn't like it I think that this scenario would have its advantages for the industy and customers. And for the console markte: The Wii has its market. And while Microsoft Managers might kick themselves that they missed such a good oportunity I don't even think that the Xbox 360 and Wii are very hard competitors. I think the Xbox 360 was mainly designed to catch PC drop outs. People who don't want to upgrade their PCs all the time. The Xbox has it advantage with better images and perhaps the possibility to still play with their friends online that have a a PC. The Wii on the other hand is cheaper and much more convenient when you play with other people in your room. But the concept of the PS-3 bothers me a bit. A console simply has no chance to win against a PC in the long run if you look at processor power. In the first 2 years they can compete with PCs but then they fall behind. A console is mainly cheaper ad programs can be better adapted to the hardware (for a PC impossible). I think the reason for the cell has less to do with a big concept, but other factors. In a way its concept looks a bit like the the idea behind the Emotiuon Engine of the PS-2 and it's pure benchmark power is overwhelming. And BluRay: I don't know who gave Sony the impression that the PS-2 established the DVD. In the USA and Europe the format was already running when the PS-2 reached the market and later cheaper players with VCD and SVCD capabilities gave it the push for the normal market. If you don't watch many DVDs a PS-2 is sufficient but I don't know anybody who bought a PS-2 to watch movies! But I know several people who only bought a PS-3 simply as a BluRay player while at least in my opinion a Wii might be better suited for their taste in games.. I don't have problems with people who don't agree with me but I don't really get the idea behind the PS-3.

No need to even compare it to Eyetoy. Zapper light gun, ROB, Power Pad, U-Force, Power Glove. Lots of initial buzz that died quickly. I don't believe Nintendo will abandon this like it did those, but there is potential for the features to be just an afterthought in many games.

Well, clearly that remains to be seen. People thought the DS and its touchscreen would get old fast as well. Hopefully developers will be able to come up with enough original ideas to keep it interesting. But at this point I'd bet on more than 2 years at least! You did mention more realistic gameplay, not graphics. Graphics have very little to do with gameplay. I don't understand how you can rate graphics so highly personally. No no, I don't think anything bad of you at all. As long as you are civil and are able to produce coherent and reasonable arguments I respect everyone's opinion.
