are you guys nutz. I hated having to beat the arcade mode 10+ times for all the characters. I especially hated it in street fighter 4 cause if you bring the game to a friends house the half characters are locked and you cant even copy your save.

I'm one of the few people that like having all the characters unlocked from the start. Still want unlockables for costumes though.

There is no hype and when I visit news about tekken I always read people whining about how it's all the same. Tekken hate seems to be rounding teh interwebs. I don't know exactly what those "it's all the same" whiners want but maybe they're still sore that they can't win a match. The system is complex and beating someone who has mastered juggle starters and oki is next to impossible for beginners. I can only guess at how irritated to tekken those hardcore gamers get when they lose to Tekken veterans. Maybe they want a whole new system where veterans would unlearn what they already know. Good luck.
Watching matches in Tekken is exciting, it's like watching a fight scene from a Bruce Lee movie full of fast flying fists. To be able to enact a movie with your controls is just so cool. I can't say the same for other Fighting games such as SF, KoF, VF, and even SC. The fights look kind of lame and not as gripping as the fights in Tekken are.
Tekken series is one of the best fighters and millions of people know about it so it don't need hype to sell good.
Perhaps Namco thinks core gamers are already aware of Tekken 6. Also fighters don't pull in numbers like they used to. Why spend a ton of money advertising?

It would be a different game. That's common knowledge. |
Were talking about a fighting game here....and it's Tekken.
Had it been a more complex game whose devs wanted to put more emphasis on graphics or some other technical area, I bet the change would be alot bigger.
If Tekken 6 fails, blaming it on being multiplat would be a poor excuse.
Soul Calibur >>>Tekken. I already have dark resurrection and I bet this wont be much different. Well, if my cousins buy it, I'll probably have to even though I suck at it lol.

I'm not going to blame it's multiplatform status if it does fail, but I'm am telling you the reality of the situation, and the reality is, if it were exclusive, it WOULD be a different game. |
Considering Tekken 1 - 5 have been identical to the Arcade I'm not sure it would be a "different game."
Are you implying it might have a few additional features or something if it were exclusive?
I have to agree that the change in console status and the long delay to include the other version of the game killed the game for me. I already have virtual fighter (that also went multiplatform) so why would I want another fighter (though I am picking up super street fighter 4 when it drops down to 20$). The lose of its exclusivity and long delay "killed" any motivation I would of had of dropping 60$ dollars on this game day one.

Hmm...With all due respect, my friend, I'm afraid I also can't see how it would be a different game...However, he's wrong by saying blaming the multiplat move is a poor excuse. If it didn't go multi, this game would've released a long time ago. But now with so many fighters released this year, its hype died out.
If this game sells poorly, I will be quite disappointed, but it's really 80% Namco Bandai's fault for the multiplat move, and 20% Sony's fault for not securing this game. You have no idea how pissed off I was at Sony for letting FFXIII, Tekken 6, and Assassin's Creed go multiplat.
