Forums - Sales - Did Nintendo Wii Beat Xbox 360, PS3 in September After All?

@bdbdbd

"And welcome to VGChartz Robert.
ps. a little hint for you, if you write Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, you should write Wii, and if you write Nintendo Wii, you should Write Sony Playstation 3 and Micro$oft 360. Otherwise you sound like an amateur who don't know what you are talking about."

I actually just cut and paste the title from the original article i was reading online. I actually thought about editing it, but decided I wanted to leave it's title and content as it had been posted. Good point though. Thanks for the advice! And the welcome, odd to finally post after I've been lurking here for many many months :)

@Robert: Oh, sorry, i was barking at the wrong tree then. :) I just usually make a judgement, based on how console names are written, about whether the writer know or don't know anything about the subject. And by reading the articles it's easy for everyone to notice.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

@ bdbdbd No worries, I did cut and paste that time, but I am sure I will make an error in posting etiquette, and input will always be well recieved!

I have always said

JAN 1 08 will be the TRUE start line of the console war!

I've seen this baloney appearing more and more from Sony fans of late, which is so ridiculous it's hard to understand. So the sales of each system for the first year (and first two holiday seasons), which are BY FAR the most important period for determining lifetime sales, we should just discount them? After all, the 360 has been on the market for almost two full years now. Do those sales just magically not count for some reason? I cannot even begin to understand this logic.

The Gamecube and XBox didn't get to say "Jan 1 2003 will be the TRUE start line of the console war!" and neither does the PS3 in 2008.

Did the wii win the month? No. They should put an addendum to the NPD numbers that says "Sold as many as possible". If Nintendo really cared about getting the pub for being number one, they just needed to ship some more consoles. If they have enough stock piled, wii is going to kill this holiday season. If not, MS will "win".

Whether they won or not (and they didn't), Wii still performed shockingly well. Month after month people keep saying this thing is a fad and it's going to fade away, but it just isn't happening. I think this is 'The Sims!' of consoles. It appeals to a lot of people who will only buy one console or one game that they love and they will play the hell out of it for a long, long time.

It isn't going anywhere until Nintendo decides to move forward with a new console.
