A little old, but people were having the same argument back then also. It just happens to be an article I remember.

Yes, take a look at this:

Mac's cost over 50% more than similar PC's.

1) I wasn't going to use newegg.com because they somehow sell things for so cheap. I was using what I consider a 'normal' retail website like bestbuy.com and amazon for the comparison. Newegg.com is just two awesome.
2) Gateways suck. They break down all the time. You would be amazed the price difference between mediocre and high quality parts.
3) Cheap monitor = 400$. Samsung high quality monitor = 1000$

@voty2000
Like I said I worked at a computer shop for 2 years after getting my computer science degree and before I became an officer in the USAF. Sony is the only brand I could use that has the quality to compare to Macs. It goes something like this: E-machine < Dell < Compaq < Gateway < HP < Sony < ASUS.

My point is that I just chose a brand that wasn't crap on a normal retail website and compared it to a Mac. I didn't rig the comparison any by picking a specific website or looking around for a specific computer to make my point. I literally took the first Sony computer I found and then found a Mac on Apple's website that was close to it.

What kind of monitor costs $1,000? That more than most TV's. Here is a very high quality monitor for $230.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824160041

Amazing picture quality, good size, and build in webcam/microphone.

I read a few reviews and several of them had complaints about the picture quality and the build of the frame.  Plus, who the hell is AOC?

That 1,000$ is pretty top of the line, and Samsung does tend to make very expensive (but very high quality) products.  I guess a monitor doesn't have to cost 1,000$ to be good.

Also, I was comparing 27 inch displays.  You brought up a 22 inch displays.  The bigger displays can get very expensive very fast.

Apple Get-a-Mac ads, new ones in respond to Win 7 are in!!
http://www.apple.com/getamac/ads/

I use a PC, but these ads are very funny and enjoyable, I can't imagine why people find these offensive. Stop being stupid zombie fanboys, NO PLATFORM IS PERFECT OKAY?!

[emo]

Do the shit thats best for you and choose what you can afford / appropriate, why resent something just because you can't fucking afford it. BMW / Mercedes cars do in fact make ads that make fun of each other, so do other competing brands, never fucking watch TV?? Get with the program and enjoy them for what they are, THEY ARE COMPETING FOR YOUR LOVE.

Since this is a gaming related website, yeah PC gaming is and will be better on the PC, because OpenGL is not moving ahead much if at all and the Mac mouse has 1 goddamn button but can you use 3rd party mice, FUCK YES. But are PCs better than Macs, WHO GIVES A FUCK, use what you like, are people buying with your fucking money?

[/emo]

PC's with Linux/Ubuntu are perfect.

Ouch...that hurt.  I really like that website too.  However, I can find several other websites that say "Macs are too expensive" is a myth.

Regardless, even though I had fun arguing this, I have spent a lot more time doing it than I wanted to.

I will close with this.  The computer shop I worked at for 2 years was a small business.  The managers I worked for were amazingly smart...not like the idiots working at the Geek Squad.  Everyone there accepted that some things were easier to do with Windows, while other things were easier to do in MacOSX and/or Linux.

People who think Macintosh and/or Linux are worthless I believe are ignorant; aka: poorly qualified to debate that point.  That is all.

Eh, I'm bored of these ads to be honest.

windows 7 rocks! i was rockin the 64 bit beta and im currently waiting for best buy to send me my free copy! cant wait to get it. Windows 7 = best operating system ive ever used

Long Live SHIO!

They'll still find things about 7 to harp on about. I mean that should be obvious.

i mean there will always be virus on windows because windows will be the more popular system.  That's the only reason why Mac's don't get virus' nobody gives a shit because they aren't relevent enough.

When it comes to being hacked, given a dedicated effort apple computers are actually easier to hack.

Apple sales have been down since Netbooks hit the market. Unless they start making prices more competitive their commercials won't help.

I've been running Windows 7 (not beta) and it works great. This is an older computer I'm running it on by the way. Vista ran terribly on this same machine.

They should worry about that not Windows 7.

Yeah, my girlfriend wants one of those for some reason.  Do they even have USB ports?
