Senlis said: @ Conner52 1) I wasn't going to use newegg.com because they somehow sell things for so cheap. I was using what I consider a 'normal' retail website like bestbuy.com and amazon for the comparison. Newegg.com is just two awesome. 2) Gateways suck. They break down all the time. You would be amazed the price difference between mediocre and high quality parts. 3) Cheap monitor = 400$. Samsung high quality monitor = 1000$
@voty2000 Like I said I worked at a computer shop for 2 years after getting my computer science degree and before I became an officer in the USAF. Sony is the only brand I could use that has the quality to compare to Macs. It goes something like this: E-machine < Dell < Compaq < Gateway < HP < Sony < ASUS.
My point is that I just chose a brand that wasn't crap on a normal retail website and compared it to a Mac. I didn't rig the comparison any by picking a specific website or looking around for a specific computer to make my point. I literally took the first Sony computer I found and then found a Mac on Apple's website that was close to it.

What kind of monitor costs $1,000? That more than most TV's. Here is a very high quality monitor for $230.

Amazing picture quality, good size, and build in webcam/microphone.

I read a few reviews and several of them had complaints about the picture quality and the build of the frame. Plus, who the hell is AOC?
That 1,000$ is pretty top of the line, and Samsung does tend to make very expensive (but very high quality) products. I guess a monitor doesn't have to cost 1,000$ to be good.
Also, I was comparing 27 inch displays. You brought up a 22 inch displays. The bigger displays can get very expensive very fast.
