Forums - Nintendo - Where are the wii "core" gamers when it is about buying a game?

People say "wii doesn't have anyting core" but when you have to buy it it doesn't sell, dead space can be considered "core", but no one bought it, silent hill has few preorders and madworld  and the conduit were comercial failures, "core" gamers are there to say the wii is casual but they aren't there to buy games, that is a shame

I own MadWorld and it's not all it's cracked up to be. It's okay, but it's short, niche, and frankly, kind of dull. The humor is top-notch and the gameplay has it's moments, but overall I find it hard to justify my first-day purchase.

The Conduit I haven't really played much despite buying it first day (because I'm weird that way), but I enjoyed the parts I played and from what I've experienced so far I think it should've sold more.

Silent Hill looks great, but you can't expect a classic horror game like that to sell millions right away.

As for Dead Space Extraction, I think it looks like a well-made game but not my type of game. Which is probably something everyone agrees with.

See, rail shooters are already oversaturated as hell on the Wii. RE-rail shooters sell because they are RE. People love RE. Same reason Mario sports-games sell, they're not bad games, but people buy it because they love the characters and the brand name makes sure you'll get drawn in.

House of the Dead is the same, except it's smaller than RE. Add to that that everyone seems to love Overkill to death, I've heard tons of good feedback about pretty much every part of that game except maybe the length.

The only thing I've heard about Extraction is that it apparently has game-breaking bugs. So yeah.

EDIT: If you want quality core games from 3rd parties on Wii (Why people want to always limit it to 3rd party games I will never understand), check out No More Heroes. Amazing game. Resident Evil 4 - Even more amazing game. It doesn't matter that it was on GC and PS2, the Wii controls make it even more sensational than it already was. Still not satisfied? Try out Okami.

All the games you listed are, quite frankly, pretty average.

Sturgeon once said that 90% of everything sucks, I think 90% of everything will fail; this is why there are so many sequels, once you find something that works, you keep at it. 3rd parties aren't putting their best, established franchises on the Wii, instead putting out new experimental stuff, giving those games a 90% chance of not connecting with the audience. The HD consoles get the main games from the established franchises, which have already connected with the audience, giving them a higher chance of succeeding.

Veder Juda is hand crafted from EPIC FAIL, and is a 96% certified Looney; the other 4% is a work in progress.

They were about when Zelda and Resident Evil 4 launched. Since then, noone has even tried to bring them back.

no more heroes wasn't a big seller, or okami, that's what I was telling

Around the Network

No more Heroes was Suda's best selling title, compare its sales to Killer 7
And okami sold more than the original version

Similarly compare Madworld to God Hand. Those titles sold well for the genres.

However, to see if core games sell I think the best example is The Force Unleashed.
It sold 1.4 mil on Wii, 1.85 on the 360 and 1.26 on the PS3.

So core titles can and do sell, but they need to stop trying to be niche.

All the core 3rd party titles are either niche or not what they were cracked up to be. I can't really think of a single core title that has mass appeal? If you want to sell niche titles, there has to be an audience, and that audience hasn't been created, because 3rd parties don't dare to put their main franchises on the Wii. Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest will be the first games which will have any power to create this userbase.

I thought Wii core gamers are myth a fiction. if there are Wii core gamers the "so called" Wii fans are playing more on the Wii than wasting their time posting and arguing and defending Ninty on sites like this.

And the "so called" Wii fans and nintendo fans dont believe them. If they knew Nintendo and the Wii they could've known that Whack a montey was one of the most popular games on NSMB DS  asides from Mario versus Luigi

Im being honest here but Wii core gamers are no different from PS360 core gamers. They bought the Wii for wrong reasons thats why theyre still waiting for a real lightsaber game, Kingdom hearts 3, RE5 Wii, a AAA Wii FPS and a real Wii Zelda. The only reason they bought the Wii was to play Nintendo games like Mario, Zelda and Metroid amirite?

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out
