Forums - Nintendo - Do you thing nintendo can still continue DK country franchise without RARE

Man...I love the character (DK)...wish they would make an actual donkey kong 3d (or even 2d) platform game in the tradition of the rare games...

Bet we see it one day...

Mind you I'm happy enough with two 3d and one 2d Mario game for the time being :)

There was a reason Nintendo wasn't too keen on keeping Rare, Rare hadn't been Rare for a long time. So I'm not sure DK Country would've been the same even if Rare did it.

With that said, no I don't think Nintendo will make a DK game like that. DK has now become a third string character. He shares a room with Kirby (Though at least Kirby still gets a few main series games) DK is only being used with music games for the most part.

To be honest. No Just no. My niece has been playing that, what a way to waste DK as a franchise. Sigh.

they're busy making mario and zelda games. They really should find a good third party to develop star fox and DK for them

Thats what happened with Star Fox Assault... Namco developed it, and I realllllllllllly tried to like that game I mean I put effort into it, I loved the style, the graphics were superb, but man did everything outside of the arwing parts blow, and even the arwing parts weren't as good as every star fox game that came before it.

For everyone that says the DK games have sucked since DK64 I've heard nothing but praise for jungle beat and I'm gonna pick that one up myself, a few people said it's similar to DKC since it is a side scrolling game, so I'm gonna check for myself.

The game probably failed because nintendo didnt give them enough support or guidance.  They probably just threw money at namco and expected a good game (I'm just supposing).

I was refering to nintendo taking a small 3rd party studio and making it a 2nd party, much like rare in its day or retro studios, even though they could try another 3rd party, such as activision or infinity ward.

Namco developing star fox was certainly a wierd move on behalf of nintendo though.

Donkey Kong isn't dead. Nintendo is working on his brand new title with a lot of attention because they know how this franchise has been neglected in past years.

Nintendo will certainly make a great title soon. They will take their time. DK is the 3rd best-selling franchise, so probably they won't let it down.

Still, Nintendo isn't talkative on their games. They want to surprise you.

one 2D Mario game and 3D Mario game is great. Very great.

DOnkey Kong COuntry >>>>>> ALL MARIO GAMEs except Super Mario World

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Nah. There's more of a chance we'll see Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat 2 than Donkey Kong Country 4.

Pixel Art can be fun.

No. Every game Nintendo have made sice DK64 with Donkey Kong has sucked. They also ruined Starfox with Assault.

Smash Bros does NOT suck!! And Donkey Kong does not suck in Smash Bros.
