Perhaps people were "actively seeking reviews" to ensure that Ocarina was the highest rated game, not the greatest game;) Anyway, i don't know what other people were saying then but my stance is still the same mainly because i think it's very hard to compare games across generations.

If memory serves me correctly though, part of the fuss on Gamerankings or Metacritic at that particular time is that some of the reviews for OOT were either removed or added, lowering the score when it had been stable and the same for years prior. Coincidentally it all started around the time that GTA IV reviews were coming in.  Was there any truth to it? I'm not sure, i never bothered to look into it.

It still isn't better than ALttP, so no.

All time? I dunno... it's up there. At least one of the most capitvating gaming experiences I've had in a very long time. There's never gong to be a definitive "best game ever" though.

It`s about time to overthrow Zelda Ocarina of Time, anyway.

The thing is, no matter how good Uncharted 2 may be, it isn´t an innovative game in no aspect.

Zelda OoT is a turning point in videogame history. It changed and influenced everything since then.

Being said that, U2 is no contender.


PS: I still think we need a new king, a new "greates game of all time" or "game with the highest reviews of all time".

I 90% agree with this post. Only part I disagree with is the best action/adventure game ever. To me it is but some people don't like the game at all. But I totally agree with your post :)

Well it is definitely being rated highly so that's a good thing.

But I have a problem with the whole review setup anyways because the ranking system is screwed up to begin with. So I try not to look at these metascores or gameranking sites anymore because even being a collection of all the reviews... you are still getting a collection of a corrupted system. I'd explain more on that maybe when I have the time.

Thus I like what most people are agreeing with is that why can't we just have a bunch of greatest games of all time and then leave the number 1 spot up to personal preference.

No offense but you don't sound like you have any idea what you're talking about.

U2 Is a evolution to gaming as we know it. Discrediting it for a lack of innovation is smering as it's not only perfected so many things, it's the first game to create a full fluid cinematic experience. It does what many other games has tried to do, like metal gear solid and the first uncharted.

Uncharted 2, is the next level of gaming, and that.. Is a revolution all by itself.
