Forums - Sales - Dead Space Extraction is a MAJOR flop - we need to talk about it

House of the Dead and Resident Evil are very popular franchises. Dead Space is not. This is why it bombed.

What Wii owners want is a choice. Often Wii owners get second hand games. How many of you are happy your older brothers/sister hand me downs? It doesn't matter that it's been washed and had some touch ups it's used clothing. Some are fine shopping at Value Village, but the majority of consumers are not.

But this doesn't mean that consumers don't want rail shooters, but rail shooter of a game that wasn't block buster on another system isn't going to magicly do well on a console being sneered at by the publisher.

If they feel that rail shooters can do well how about developing 2 games at the same time. The classic gameplay as intended and a "guided shooter"(snicker). And for sakes don't do hand me downs just cause big brother only wore it for a week.

I have not seen an honest to goodness "core" game done by third party that treated the Wii with respect or what consumers want to play or at least enough marketing to gain my interest.
NMH great game, blood heacy and satiracal on other games.
Madworld can't make up it's mind on the game type and it's black and white. AND BLOODY.
SpyBorgs, come on 2d brawlers don't translate to 3d. and don't add bad flashy gimicks.

Tiger Woods is a perfect example. It does what it is supposed to do and last heard. Did better on the Wii. It's that simple, don't piss around guessing you think WiiGamers want and just make a good game that isn't gimped. SWTFU, Ghost Busters.... the list goes on.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Just a case of EA being too late to the party. There are already enough on rails shooters on the Wii, so the one with the least brand name fails

Yeah its not the marketing or EA failing but the machine (Wii) fault.....
I mean no Wii gamer gonna buy a bloody game for their 5 year old child who is playing
Wii Fit Plus with their grandma. Its gonna freak them out LMAO.
So mature games are a no-no in Nintendo's systems.
Thats what i think BTW so no trolling or flaming all right???

I'm sorry but this post makes no sense.  If the Wii is only used by 5 year olds and their grandmothers playing Wii Fit together as you so quaintly put it, why on earth would EA bother to make this game in the first place?  I fail to see how this is the fault of the machine.

No matter what way you cut it, it's the publishers fault.  They didn't make the right game for the right market and even then, as much as you seem to want to deny it, they totally failed to market it, vital if you are hoping to tap the large casual market.  The only thing done right, was that apparently the developers made a half decent light gun game.

However, as has been discussed ad nauseum it seems Wii owners; grandmothers, 5 year olds, and the core alike have had enough of this particular genre.  If in fact EA do want to make a game for the Wii core then half-assing it (rail shooter, short, buggy?, limited replay + full price etc) really isn't the way to go.

So no, it's not a case of mature games not selling on the Wii, it's a case of releasing a game that half the userbase doesn't know about and the other half doesn't care for.

I'm a core gamer. It didn't interest me whatsoever. I think that the problem is that I fall into the majority.

Why did you put "we need to talk about it" in your thread title? There's a million other threads about it, and we're all pretty much in agreement that nobody cares about this game, its lack of marketing (it's just a test), its lack of effort (it's just a test), its lack of sales, its lack of quality, or its lack of fans. Nobody cares and nobody likes it. We really don't need to talk about it. Anymore.

There's one small problem. EA probably does care ;)

So don't forget about it when next year they flood Wii with more exercise or sports series games only.

PROUD MEMBER OF THE PSP RPG FAN CLUB

it all comes down to marketing.

and not just the promotion part but there was problem with all 4 Ps

overkill got all 4 Ps right which is why it is profitable

nintendo fanboy, but the good kind

proud soldier of nintopia

Third parties just don't get it, Wii gamers like quality, we have Nintendo, so all that stuff that PS360 fans are willing to stomach just won't fly on the Wii, you want to sell on the Wii you have to be as good or better than Nintendo, you have to bring the fun

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

You have a flaw in your way of thinking.

When a Wii game fails to perform, it's the machine's fault.

When an X360 game fails to perform, it's the game's fault, not the machine's.

You also ignore that quite a few "mature" games on Wii have seen a good profit; the call of Duty franchise, the Resident Evil franchise, Red Steel and probably some more. This means that the possible purchasers are there, they just didn't buy the games you listed.

Sir, that isn't a flaw. And you should be far more concerned with this news than you currently are. Red Steel was a flawed game at best. CoD and RE sold well due to brand name but I would be skeptical to say that they would do so again. The thing is that the Wii has sup par graphics for this generation, and that alone alienates a good majority of the hardcore fans.

That is an absolutely retarded way of thinking.
