You have to appreciate the tremendous amount of irony when he calls the thread "Microsoft spin" and then proceeds to spin every which way in his post. Not to say I'm surprised given I could've surmised this from his username.

Man look at the charts, everything including the title is clearly microsoft spin at the start of this thread.  Or believe what you want.   And don't forget it's NPD not worldwide, I have yet to see someone boasting for PS3 pretending others is the world.   I'm thinking if this were a serious sales article, why the heck would they be so concerned about US sales only- the companies sell the games worldwide, and are in no way dependant on the US market.

I didn't say it wasn't, but by all means, correct me and not the guy who says 360 sales are slowing down and the PS3 will fly by it in lifetime sales. *rolls eyes*

However when you compare the first 3 weeks of sales after a price cut (the effect on 2008 YTD sales) to 9 months of sales starting 4 months after the price cut(the effect on 2009 YTD sales) its gonna be much greater in terms of total numbers for the 9 months even if the effect is very minimal on average compared to the effect for the first 3 weeks.

Great spin.

x360 YoY sales growth is positive, but in relation to the wii's overall dominance it is pathetic.

A console that was out a year longer than the wii with YoY growth is 22million behind and growing and that's good?

Oh, well saddam claimed victory in the first gulf war so maybe you are right.

If anything the moral victory should go to PS3. To beat the x360 on it's home patch at anytime is no mean feat.

EU and Others is where Sony will profit this gen anyway.

Take nothing away from x360, it's doing OK.

Wow, Sony won one month after three years and might not win another for awhile and we get this. Although I do believe PS3 will probaly get another "win" over the 360 in NPD numbers this year.



 Go Team Venture! I still don't get the Wii, PS Move,  and Kinect.

Not to diminish the impressive results for Sony over the last two months but... See you knew that was coming. As somebody has already mentioned what matters most is money. Sony are currently gambling and on the face of it, looks to have won. What we do not know is what is the continued financial impact of the sales and the maintenance and upkeep of its network and does the improved software sales make up and exceed the difference. If the answer is no to the software then this could be an epic swan song.

I am not for the record suggesting this will happen just pointing out that things are not necessarily rosie in the Sony camp despite strong sales.
