Forums - Website Topics - Advertise systems in sigs...what compels people to do so?

Advertisements are placed so that ultimately the product being advertised gets more sales...... this a gaming website so the line between support and advertising isnt very clear but sigs featuring games or consoles are placed to show support for the game/system....not with the intent to try to sell it...

...but once you put its price on it the ,the sig becomes far more than showing support for the product.....

Oh really?

I have 3d Dot Game Heroes in my sig. I think it looks like a great game. If people see my sig, and notice dsister44's and euphoria's, it will start to generate interest. As more and more people hear and start talking about the game, the more chance that some people will want to buy it. But you're saying that isn't advertising? Do you know anything about advertising, or are you just at a loss for what to do in a serious thread.

In a serious thread, this is what you do: Present facts. Word-of-mouth is a type of advertising which is done by generating interest. This marketing involves many different aspects, but listing those will probably just confuse you. The two most relevant parts of it are user generated content and buzz. Talking to someone about a game you like is the same thing as telling your friend IRL that this game you played is a must have.

It is way too big. You need to reduce the size

Much better, though still a little big. I don't think anybody will care =)

as an advertising major I consider this trend interesting and will consider making acase study on it.

Also the red is ugly.

ODC, do you really need to. I mean all it is brand royalty and trying to justify the purchase to others.

I think you are better off trying to explain where sony went wrong with PR.

I fixed the red and the sig size is well within site rules.

Slightly off topic, but what I have seen is whenever a stupid thread such as "Should I buy a 360 or a PS3" comes up the answers are always "buy what suits your needs" or "buy a PS3" ..
