When thinking about it I try to apply the same to myself on the matter.

I mean, I'm really hyped for L4D2, hence the signiture. I do think that consoles in people's sigs is a bit too much though.

Though it doesn't bother me cos I have ad block *click click*

@seece What you are doing with your sig is not an advertisement in the true sense of the word.....which is what this thread is dealing with. Putting consoles and putting consoles + their prices are 2 different things.

So you believe that it's not advertising as long as there's no price tag?

So what do you call bill boards for movies? What do you call the fashion/clothing industry's strategy of plastering their logo over everything (the bags, the t-shirts, etc)?

Please tell me what exactly you think is an advertisement, and why not having a price tag isn't advertising... "in the true sense of the word"?

People work for the companys, i know 3-4 people on here work for companys.

Advertisements are placed so that ultimately the product being advertised gets more sales...... this a gaming website so the line between support and advertising isnt very clear but sigs featuring games or consoles are placed to show support for the game/system....not with the intent to try to sell it...

...but once you put its price on it the ,the sig becomes far more than showing support for the product.....

Maybe it's the only things in there lives worth sharing?

Why shouldn't we promote the things we like? We want people to enjoy the things we like. If that means participating in word of mouth marketing, then so be it.

Maybe it's only the ps3 fans on this site because we are passionate about our gaming and a 300$ PS3 is one of the biggest advancements for gaming this year beside game announcements.

There is no difference showing a game announcement, or a console's advertisement.

I advertise GoNintendo, not consoles.
