PSP GO is terrible & SONY's worst move ever

but blame yourself for not researching the product carefully, not SONY

Its hillarious how the standard sony supporters don't see anything wrong with Sony ditching their memory stick.

Just think about it. You can always use a memory stick micro with a memory stick adapter so they can still sell their new memory cards. All they had to do is include a slot for their own proprietary format that was introduced 4 years ago.

The fact the thing costs 250 bucks and it doesn't support your own company's proprietary memory format is a huge cheapshot by sony.

Nevertheless, I knew I could return it hence I didn't do much research. No harm no foul...Im just more bitter at company practices thats all.

I can understand people being upset about Sony's decision to change memory formats or accessory compatibility for an in-generation hardware refresh, but you should have done some research before buying it.  Also, micro-sd is a non-proprietary format.  It's not like Sony dumped one proprietary format for another.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Sony isnt ditching the memory stick. The PSP-3000 still uses them among other things. Just like any tech, 4 or 5 years and phase out to the new tech, shit MSFT did it sooner with the 360, Apple does it all the time with their ipod remodels, look at laptops, PC's, ram, Harddrives, I paid $1800 for a 42 inch 720p DLP tv in 2006, then 2 years later i paid only $1400 for a 42 inch LCD 1080p tv. This is the world of technology, id be happy you had 4 years with a product to be honest.

Youre just trying to freak out over nothing other than the name of the company on the box and its so blatently obvious youre grasping at straws for a reason to bitch about Sony. Wanna bitch about proprietory products and ocmpanies forcing you to overpay for stuff, look at MSFT and lets start a discussion in the general gaming forum and we can bitch together.

This thread isnt about Sony misleading you, they didnt, its on the box, this thread isnt about sony gauging you because you chose to buy the PSPgo as a standalone, there was no need for you to buy it, this is about you wanting to bitch about Sony so you crafted some illthought through reason and this thread was born.

I challenge you to find me some type of comparible tech that isnt overhauled in the same time frame? Graphics cards? Nope. Cell phones? Nope. Ipods? Nope.

Did you not investigate before purchasing it? i thought most people new the memory sticks where different, it even says on the box

There are Memory Stick Adaptors for the PSP Go.
Again it's another Sony product, but it's not like Sony didn't say that the PSP Go used Memory Stick Micro. Not Memory Stick Pro Duo.

Also, another fact that this might be a "YOU" problem.....if you have 60gb worth of music and wanted something for videos, music AND gaming all in one.....why the hell did you think a 16gb PSPGo and putting in your 8gb memory stick would be a viable option for what you were trying to accomplish?

You couldnt even hold half of your music in and of itself, not to mention, movies, or games knowing its harddrive only all the games you played would need to be stored?

Sounds liek you didnt think this through at all in general, even if the Go supported memory stick it was a silly move and you would still need another device to accomplish everything you stated in your OP.

Its not micro SD. its memory stick micro which is proprietary to Sony... Its actually funny cause Wikipedia states.

Sony announced on June 1, 2009 that M2 support in Sony Ericsson phones would be dropped in favor of microSD

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_Stick#Memory_Stick_Micro_.28M2.29

So why is PSP go stuck using this? I'd love it if it used micro SD like the rest of the world.

I see.  Retract everything I said, except about the research part.  But, I am glad you posted it because I thought it micro sd.
