From what I have seen over the net, ALAN WAKE is well ahead of U2 graphicly on the NET. But on screen U2 looks like a god..

seriously its really hard to tell without having both games in hand, I remember when people said GEARS 2 had better graphics than U1 based on internet video and screens, and we know that U1 is almost a mile ahead of it visually.

Dont put "we" with your opinion......I can never take your opinion seriously after you said GT PSP looked better than forza 3.

it backfired on you those are drake fortune screenshots, not uncharted 2, and yet even drakes fortune looks better.

However, all of those for Alan Wake look suspiciously like they're cutscenes. A quick look at other screenshots reveals that nothing that looks like active gameplay has the nice lighting or camera focus effects of those screens.

I don't think many of the Uncharted screenshots are in-game action either, although it's a bit harder to tell - it looks like they at least used the same graphics engine to create the cutscenes.


Remedy spoke on the Alan Wake screenshots. They're taken in a photomode which adds some extra anti-aliasing (It runs at 4xaa in-game which is pretty beefy) and some more post processing effects like blur etc. Everything is in-game assests. I'm not sure if Alans model is game mode or cutscene.

Uncharted 2 on the other hand I think are press captures much like Alan Wake, all in-game (Well cutscene) assets but with a stronger dose of AA. I don't remember the rendering being that crystal clean.

I agree, one of my favorite and best looking parts of the game is the whole Helicopter scene starting from the very top of the hotel, all the way till you escape the crashing building.

Judging by the Alan Wake and Uncharted 1 screen shot's, Drake wins only because of the amount of colour and attention to detail in those damn brick buildings. Alan Wake has really nice lighting though and floor reminds me of Killzone 2... that's a good thing by the way.



Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Hisiru killed the thread by trying to compare shitty offscreen UC1 pictures with "press" AW pictures, yet UC1 is on par maybe even better looking :P. I almost forgot that the first game looked this amazing.
