However, all of those for Alan Wake look suspiciously like they're cutscenes. A quick look at other screenshots reveals that nothing that looks like active gameplay has the nice lighting or camera focus effects of those screens.

I don't think many of the Uncharted screenshots are in-game action either, although it's a bit harder to tell - it looks like they at least used the same graphics engine to create the cutscenes.


Remedy spoke on the Alan Wake screenshots. They're taken in a photomode which adds some extra anti-aliasing (It runs at 4xaa in-game which is pretty beefy) and some more post processing effects like blur etc. Everything is in-game assests. I'm not sure if Alans model is game mode or cutscene.

Uncharted 2 on the other hand I think are press captures much like Alan Wake, all in-game (Well cutscene) assets but with a stronger dose of AA. I don't remember the rendering being that crystal clean.
