It's understandable why the PS3 base is the most vocal. The PS3 had a slow start, it made things tough to be a Playstation loyalist. The 360 had the head start, third-party devs preferred the 360 because it is easier to program for compared to the cell, which took them time to get used to. The 360 made online console gaming mainstream, which was a big part of the console's success. It introduced achievements. These factors made it tempting to get a 360 instead of waiting for a PS3 And now that things have vastly improved for the PS3 (third-parties moving more towards multi-platform development since the improving PS3 install base makes it worth their while, porting formerly 360 exclusives for the same reason, Sony putting out lots of first-party games, PSN improving, making trophies mandatory since 2009 with new games), you'd expect the base to be ecstatic. The PS3 situation is much better now than it used to be and I think they have a right to feel happy that their console is doing well. They don't have to worry about games anymore.
But the fanboys who actively bash the 360 and its userbase and say stuff like, "oh the 360 sucks, it only has halo, gears, forza, etc. Have fun with RRoD" Those are the vocal elements that the PS3 base could do without. If you don't like the 360 software library or you're really that paranoid about RRoD, don't buy a 360. Or sell your 360 if you got one and aren't pleased with it.

I mean who the hell has wired connections through their house these days? You certainly need to pay 100 for wifi to make it equivilant to the what the Wii and PS3 get for free from day one. |
No actually you aren't required to buy the 120 gig HDD as I previously said and there is absolutely no benefit of installing games on your HDD unless you are worried about the disc reader overheating which I have no problems of. Loading time of installed games is microsopically shorter vs games being read off a disc.
Well If you are smarter then a 5 year old you will pay in advance so it doesn't cost 7 dollars a month. I as many have previously stated you can buy 12 month cards for cheaper than $50.
Congrats on being top seller for a whole 2 months.
Since you like to use Metacritic scores for basing arguments on games Halo would actually be the best FPS you can buy since it has the highest metacritic score. So your statement of it not being the best is false. I would also say Gears is up there as well, above a 9.0

The Wii have a market share of 48% and the 360 have about 27% but the PS3 have only 23% market share. By logic, there should be alot more Wii and 360 fans but on most Gaming Site I go to there is always more PS3 fans. There is always more thread for PS3 exclusive games then the Wii and 360 combine. I'm just curious. |
My reasoning for this:
- NPD 2008 stated that 360 owners game more actively than Wii and PS3 owners.
- Last gen the Xbox owners were the most vocal and rabid because of their second place spot with the most powerful system, and this gen it is the PS3 owners are extremely similar whilst having the last place system. It always seems that the systems with the most powerful or notable companies (also with the graphical edge) are always expected to be first when it isn't and there is a reason for it. In essence, PS3 loyalists are cringing for the day that Sony beats Microsoft and then heads on to beat Nintendo. Thats the only passion that drives them really. If Sony was in first place, they would have most of the games and they wouldn't be talking as much. Much like the PS1 and PS2 era there wouldn't be much to even talk about because the library speaks for itself.

PS3 has only been on top for 1 month not 2 and that's if we doesnt count the DS of course.
| blizzid said: It has nothing to do with PS3 fans being more "hardcore", or any other kind of intrinsic difference between the fanbases. It might seem counterintuitive, but PS3 fans are the most vocal because their console is in last place. The feeling that their console deserves to be in first place - coupled with the reality that it is actually in last place - is what causes it. 360 fans don't have the same sense of entitlement, partly because Microsoft has never had a first-place console, and partly because they have the consolation of their console at least being in second place. |
This is pretty much what I'd guess, nice post. Sony's consoles going from complete domination (70%+ marketshare) to last place (coupled with bad press) will make fans vocal...

Fixed.
OT: Tons of PlayStation fans from previous gens.
With over 300 Million units sold, there are bound to be a whole lot of fans.

I own all 3 and only talk positively about the PS3 because one is a toy to play from time to time with girlfriends and your parents (Wii) and the other rips you off every chance it gets (the 360 with the 100 dollar wifi, the 150 dollar 120GB hard drive, the 7 dollar a month online play ect ect ect). The 60GB PS3 I have from release has been nothing but good to me. I've had free online play, replaced the hard drive with a 3rd party 500GB HD for 70 bucks and got access to every good game I want to play other then gears 1 and 2. Its more or less the only gaming platform I need these days, I have a que of 8 9.0+ games for the PS3 to play released in just the past month and a half. |
Because many PS3 fans share that mentality, the one of "my opinion is supreme above all others," to the point where it becomes fact and they forget that to other people...people like myself, do not think the PS3 is a good value.

If we go by this logic, there should be a lot more Nintendo fans out there. Oh and just for your information, there is also a lot more PS3 fans being banned than any other fans.

There probably are a lot more Ninty fans out there, that's why Ninty's 1st party games sell millions upon milions and why the DS is going to be the most successful platform ever.
And so?
