Oh man this is gonna make my brain explode. I'm just marking this thread to keep an eye on it. This is gonna take me some time. I absolutely need River City Ransom and Blaster Master in the list. Best 2-player co-op beat 'em up, and Blaster Master is like a Zelda/Metroid but with a giant tank instead of a horse, and your power-ups upgrade your tank instead of yourself, and it's a lot of atmospheric exploration platforming with great music, and the best plot ever. They're both top 20 for me, but as this is communal, I just absolutely need them in the top 100.

Super Mario Brothers 3 in the 6th place and The Legend of Zelda in 7th? Your'e kidding, right?

MY ZELDA COLLECTION

May I suggest 1 game per franchise. That prevents things like the mega man series from swarming the list. Also, maybe you should take the top 5 in order and assign #1 5 points, #2 4 points etc.

For example:
1. Metroid
2. Zelda
3. Super Mario Bro. 3
4. Castlevania 3
5. Mega Man 2

Maybe allow another vote for an oddball game the voter doesn't think many people would vote for, but is a personal favorite (for 1 point). This can help prevent the same 20 games being voted for all the time.

oddball: Startropics

I contributed :)

Kirby's Adventure is too low :P.

Final Fantasy is a bit too low, Super Mario Bros or Super Mario Bros 3 should probably be #1 and the other #2 for safe measure, Zelda II is a bit high for my tastes.

It's a pretty good list.

I knew you'd understand what I'm trying to do

Blaster master is there,

Support for River City Ransom is strong, I'll be arbitrarily placing it on the list in place of a dropped game

@senlis I was thinking about series limitation aswell, 1 is too strict in some cases such as zelda or mario were the different entries are significantly different

but in the case of say lolo megaman were the games are pretty similar some limitation could be a good ide

anyway else support atma suggestion of dropping the second generation ports millipede, popeye, qbert and qix? dropping them could open some slots

I'm going to compile some of the opinions that have been voiced until this post

I'll be dropping qix, popeye, qbert and millipede  unless anyone wants to support any of them staying on the list

their positions need to be filled, river city ransom is taking one but what belongs in the other three?

I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!

NOW A PUNISHER CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About the series limitation, I think we could drop some (for example Mega Man IV or Mega Man V) but not all of them. SMB, SMB2 and SM3 MUST be in the list.

I also think Double Dragon II must be in the list, above Double Dragon. Therefore, Double Dragon III shouldnt be on the list.

duck hunt only 67?

I respect everyone's opinion but.....why?? That game had the best production values all of three....and it was generally a great game....better than part 1 at least....you didn't enjoy it? :(

I did enjoyed it, but not more than DD2 or DD.

Double Dragon : A true classic of the beat'em up genre, had 4 long missions, had a fighter genre game option, gameplay was ok

Double Dragon II : The game had 9 missions, 2 players coop (probably one of the first beat'em up game to include 2 players coop), excellent gameplay

Double Dragon III : Only 5 short missions (while released 3 years after the first game), 2 players coop, good gameplay, fun, but too hard to play (only 1 life!) and mispelled Billy and Jimmy as Bimmy and Jimmy

^^ LOL yea I forgot about that bimmy thing
I suppose it was short because it as hard.....i was extremely happy when I reached the end. I used Chin throughout most of it anyway.

Fair enough though.

I still need to give a shoutout to TMNT 1 & 3. Part 1 was hard but very satisfying when u finish it
