Forums - Sony - Fuzzmosis Reviews: Heavenly Sword

Heres where you go wrong; You assume an HDTV and 5.1 sound is going to fix his problems with the boring gameplay.

Don't you think your constant tirade against PS3 games and Sony in general is getting a bit old?

The act is getting stale.

You play the game with sound on 2 and you wonder why it sucks, the sound makes or breaks a game, and you set it up to fail. I have yet to play this game as it is always rented out at blockbuster the same as lair and all the other PS3 games. Maybe if you played it on a HDTV with 5.1 sound you would like the game more. I have played both Demo's of the game and it is great 10/10.

Sound makes or breaks a music CD.

If sound is what makes or breaks a game you've got a serious problem.

Gameplay is what makes or breaks any game.

ok, lets put it this way, super mario world without any sound. Is it as fun?

I just keep reading over that trying to figure out what exactly you were trying to say, trying to give you the benefit of the doubt.. but no matter how i read it, i still end up confused at how silly it is...

If i'm reading this right..

Fuzzmosis has played the entire game with a low volume sound (but still on)
You have played the demo

And from that you have concluded that Fuzzmosis doesn't know enough about the game to know how to review it, yet you do? .. sorry, if you could clear this up, i'd really appreciate it

I liked a lot this one .Good acting ,superb sound ,amazing graphics ,a good storyline ....a bit short true but definitely the best beat-them-all yet in the current generation .

Funny you have no mention of gameplay.

And best beat em up of this gen is like saying "hey, you smell better than shit."

The gameplay is very good ,with intense action ,a very good sense of control over your charachter ,a lot of moves ,three stances of fighting ,the diversity that the Kai scenes provide ....no problems about it .

No, however it is fun.  At most it's likely a half point difference as far as review level of fun goes.  It'd be more in a regular review if the Mario team was so lazy as to not put any sound at all because... you have to add sound, but if it's their and you just arn't listening to it it's not really going to make much of a difference.

Sound really can hurt a game more then help it.

For example Yoshi's Island is actually a lot more fun without the sound because of baby mario's incessent whining everytime he gets hit.  I'd knock off 2 full points on that game just for baby marios crying, it'd be more but from what i remember that game was easy so i wasn't hit often.  It's a game I wanted to like but couldn't.  Shame too since Shyguys are the best Mario villians ever.

The only time sound is really important is in games where the sound gives you cues about what is coming up.  For example hearing footsteps in a stealth action scene.

Well, some people say the "anti-fanboys" are just as bad as the "real" fanboy, but who am I to judge

BTW; tirade doesn't really fit for what you were going for in that post. Try crusade instead.

In Heavenly Sword the sound really adds to the game. It's useful for things like archers when they yell aim, ready fire etc. It also adds to the game with the sounds the enemies make, the way they try and taunt you and other things like that

add me

Here's the thing:
1: I was playing on an HDTV. Looked nice. Can you stop with that? It probably would have looked nice on a SDTV too.
2: I wasn't playing at 0 volume. I can hear the previously mentioned archers standing and telling each other to fire. I could clearly hear most every word. I'm not deaf. I heard the soldier tell the fox general he didn't want to fight me. I can't, and won't say I heard everything. That would be foolish. Maybe I missed Kai being random a few times or didn't hear Roach groaning out a stupid line when he slammed his head into a wall. I liked what I did hear, but I don't think I missed such a large portion that I took away a point.

And Griffin, don't rent Lair. If you want a good PS3 game, play Resistance, or Warhawk. Folklore is apparently quite fun too. Havn't got to play that one. Just do not count on Lair or Heavenly sword being a saving grace. Heavenly Sword will be fun but flawed, Lair will be a bit less fun and even more flawed. Though I did give them the same score in the end, at least I didn't end Heavenly Sword with saying "I completely understand why someone would give this a 3". That I could not Fathom, anyone who scores lower than me shocks me. My score is based on the fun I had playing a game. Graphics/Sound add to it, but... not directly.

See Ya George.

"He did not die - He passed Away"

At least following a comedians own jokes makes his death easier.

I've only finished a few hours of the game so far ( I just beat the snake chick), but on the whole I've found the game very enjoyable.

The Kai missions I found annoying yet addicting. It bugged the crap out of me when I'd miss a soldier, yet I kept going back and trying again. Once you get the hang of the aftertouch, it's very fun, though somewhat repetitive.

Many words have multiple meanings:

Tirade can mean- "outspoken denunciation"

I'd say that fits about perfect.
