Forums - PC - Deus Ex 2

Is it worth 9.99? I have Fall Break now, and I want to play a shooter in place of Uncharted 2 (since my store sold out >.<) for now before the break ends.

I loved Deus Ex, but I heard that Invisible War had a lot of problems, like a Universal ammo system (I might go for a mod that fixes that) and less RPG elements.

It's good but very dumbed down compared to the first. Worse than the original in every way other than the graphics. It was worth playing when it first came out, and I did play it through to the end, but don't expect too much of it.

Probably. It's okay, just poor next to Deus Ex in that yes, RPG elements are watered down, levels are too small (thanks Xbox for that) and overall it just doesn't have quite the same level of awsomeness as Deus Ex.

But... it does have a fair bit of the same Deus Ex DNA in it. It does offer a fun experience. And with Deus Ex 3 apparently on the way - you might just want to see what happens.

I will say the shooting is weak in it though - better to view it as an action thriller rather than a shooter.

I suspect it might look more than a little weak graphically now.

Heck, I'm not really selling it, am I? Well, I bought and played it cheap and thought it was okay despite the flaws.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I'll take that as a buy then.

I enjoyed it very much on Windows. The only game I like better than IW is the original Deus Ex. It is a worthy sequel and actually gives you more freedom than the first game, although the removal of the skill system was unfortunate.

I was heavily disappointed with it. I guess there was no other real way about it after they dumbed down the original. I blame it releasing on the PS2 as well that fucked it all up.

Only that it never did release on PS2. Blame the Xbox if you wanna.

Actually, you mean Xbox.  They did indeed mess it up having to downscale levels to a tiny size to fit Xbox specs, and overly simplified the controls and RPG elements.

EDIT : Opps.  Somebody beat me to it.
