Maybe they couldn't get their copy soon enough. They ARE a print magazine. Better that they thoroughly play the game and give it a decent review, than write up some random BS, pretend they beat the game, and give it an 8.5 from one reviewer and a 7.0 from another.

Yeah, pretty much. Uncharted 2 is great, probably a 96% title for me - almost perfect, but as with all complex engines the odd glitch will occur.

I think though some sites use a 10 more to mean 'unmissable' - i.e. the game is damn near perfect and so good you just shouldn't miss it.

If I was going to give a game a 10 it would probably be something like ICO - in a way, a simple concept and title, something that is almost minimalist, is in some ways closer to the notion of perfection as, so long as it gets the few things it aims to do right, there is little else to get wrong.

But in principle when I see a 10 or 100% I assume the reviewer is suffering from a combination of over excitement and a little dose of hype.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
