Wouldn't MGS4 rely on personal taste as well??? I can't see it appealing to just anybody, especially with the over convoluted plot/cut scenes that last for seemingly hours etc (fantastic game though ;)   )...and the fact that it's the 4th installment???

I'd suggest you download every demo you can get your hands on and see what suits. Pretty much every major PS3 title has a demo now, including LBP.

I'd also look at PSN titles like Flower, Wipeout HD, etc.

I can't advise more than that as I love Uncharted, etc. so clearly my tastes would be useless for you.

If you want to get access to even more demos, make accounts for other regions as well.

Hmmm true. Then there is rly only one exclusive on PS3 you have to play: U2. The rest heavely depends on your taste.

On the Uncharted controlls: You will get used to dual analog controlls, just play a little more.

If I bought PS3 now (and not one year ago) I would buy these games (with one year of very intensive PS3 gaming experience - I played like 12 games and read all possible game reviews...)

MUST BUYS:
- Uncharted 2 (have not played yet), thus Uncharted 1 is also must (it is really great game and now also cheap)
- Metal Gear Solid 4 (awesome, legend)
- Resistance 2 + 1 (similar combo like Uncharted; both are cheap and PS3 classic shooters with nice story and presentation)
- Valkyria Chronicles (superb strategy RPG, really underestimated by most people)
- Burnout Paradise (also without all the DC you get one the best rate value/money - extra long amazing arcade racing experience with great graphics; cheap; and easy Platinum trophy!)
- Little Big Planet (lots of fun and unique gaming experience)

And there are other like 30-50 titles with witch you will not make a mistake...

awesome! absolutely loved SEGA RPG's back in the day ... Phantasy Star was awesome, Shinning force 2 for the megadrive/genesis was amazing!, absolutely addicted to phantasy star online! OMG Panzer Dragoon Saga is ... the best game ever made. Did you ever play shenmue? They were absolutely amazing! ... also, yakuza is coming to ps3 ... another good reason for us sega fans to get the ps3 ... Um ... avoid sonic the hedgehog ... that was pretty bad ... but id recommend sonic unleashed ... i enjoyed it, never grew out of sonic, damn i loved sonic on megadrive, especially 2, sonic and knuckles, dreamcast ones were sweet too!

So yeah, definately check out valkyria chronicles ... its sega at thier best again!!

also, one of my fav games on ps3 is warhawk ... no one has really heard of it .... its an online only 3rd person shooter ... its really fun

If you like VF give a try to Blazblue , SF IV or soon to be released Tekken.

Yes! Shenmue! I totally forgot about Yakuza. My Dreamcast is the first batch of the Japanese kind, I got it with VF3tb and that Project Berkley disc in late 1998 which I still guard as a precious possession. I enjoyed every minute of the whole Shenmue thing, from the hype, to the drama to the game(s).

I think I'll enjoy Warhawk as well, I saw some footage of it a long time ago and had forgotten it since. I love shooters and Panzer Dragoon. I got my hands on Azel(Panzer dragoon Saga) in Japanese and later in English. The Saturn-Dreamcast is my favorite era of gaming. I'm very happy now with the DS, but I feel like I want a graphics powerhorse console to go along with it, and the PS3 fit the bill. And it's indeed amazing, the water in Uncharted had my jaw hit the floor.
