Yes!

But really just put it in your sig for everyone to see.

Last gen, Sony made you use their shitty overpriced hard drive. The thing is, the only game that needed a HDD was FF11. Microsoft is telling people to buy their proprietary drive or lose all their saves. This isn't a good thing, and people wouldn't be using "unauthorized memory unit[s]" if Microsoft wasn't so keen on pricing theirs as absurdly as possible.

I'm not entirely sure if they are going after those memory cards that use flash cards, ms hdds modded for more storage, or both.

Apples to Oranges my friend.  You didn't 'have' to use their shitty overpriced Hard Drive for anything.  Sure it was some pile of junk you could buy but you certainly didn't "need" it.  It's like any pointless accessory like a Steering wheel or Super SNES Gun.  You probably will get minimal use outside of a handful of games from it.

This generation everything is done with the usage of the HDD.    This is total bullshit .

I must say one thing though....Does it truly shock anyone?  I mean I've said it for quite sometime that MS has milked customers for years.  It's so easy to do too.  Make a dirt cheap, lower end model and advertise it as it can do 'everything' the others can do.  Well then you get your bare bones PoS system home and realize you need to buy their proprietary drive or you can't enjoy a good many things the system offers.   Then you look at the pricing of HDDs and it's absolutely outrageously high.

Nice to see MS making some move.

I'm sure FF11 for PS2 required the hard drive, and locked out other drives. It had no other official use as far as I know, but maybe someone can clarify this.

I wasn't trying to say they're identical, just pointing out that while Sony ripped off a few people (namely, those who wanted to play FF11 online on their ps2), Microsoft is ripping off everyone who doesn't get a hard drive bundled with their 360 or who wants to upgrade.

remember me something ....

oh, yeah ! Windows that you auto-buy with your computer !!!

Time to Work !

Fanboys really need to stop complaining. Sure this update and proprietary HDDs are annoying but its a good way to ensure less cheating happens. While it certainly doesnt completely justify the prices they arent nearly the problem you seem to complain about. Any savvy customer can get an HDD for alot cheaper on Ebay. Honestly not that big of a deal. Even the 20 GB one is enough for most users because unlike the PS3 you dont have to have any mandatory installs. :P see what i did there

Edit: no im not trying to bash the PS3 but im just stating that not every 360 owner needs the 120 GB. For the average user you can easily get by with the 20 GB drive. And those can be had for really cheap either online or used at gamestop

Long Live SHIO!

This obviously will not stop cheating, it has nothing to do with cheating.

Mandatory hard drive scans stop cheating, this has nothing to do with the content on the hdd.

It is only Microsoft attempting to make more money.

The PS2 argument is COMPLETELY invalid. The PS2 hard drive was different. consoles didn't use normal hard drives then. You needed to have the Ethernet plugged into it and it wasn't a dick move.
Also, the price was perfectly fine. It was low, and came bundled with the game.

^God are you so determined to hate M$? And yes it does help deter cheating because you are unable to put in a different HDD with any modded data files so that right there is a cheating deterent.

And i never argued about the PS2 HDD. thats a completly different argument for an entirely different thread.
