You are correct!

@Montana: Actually, according to Malstrom, his site has been growing in popularity lately. His readers doesn't necessarily have to be people posting on gaming boards.

It has been growing (somewhat), but it's at such an inconsequential traffic rank that it would be like saying your garage band's website is growing in popularity. At the pathetic level Malstrom's site is at, there aren't many places to go but up.

Malstrom's Traffic Rank: 512,120

And for comparison, the Vgchartz traffic rank: 6,727

So yeah, not too impressed.

It wasn't me caring what Malstrom thought about really, i just framed it that way to bring this story across, since i found it amusing that after all his ranting about the ills of UGC, Shiggy himself comes out and declares his desire for more.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Maelstrom is reading more into that then what Miyamoto meant. He even thinks Miyamoto is still blaming the costumers for Wii Music, when Miyamoto explicitly said that they were going to look at what went wrong with that game.

malstrom has only ever been right about one thing, Blue Ocean and Nintendo's expanded audience.
Although he is a very intellectual person and writes with the likeness of famous philosophers, he has made some incredibly obtuse comments about the direction of the industry.

And I quote: In order to save the gaming industry, developers have to start making classics.

LOL reminds me of johnlucas interview with malstrom. But the real reason why vgchartz members likes Malstrom was this:

I like his articles because of blue ocean and disruption. I didnt knew about them if not for him... But yeah, seem Malstrom didnt knew what his stand lately. I think because of TC, many Wii gamers non fanboys and fanboys alike are hugely disappointed with that game, including me. Even at the article he says that FPS game on the Wii would be the final nail on core gaming world not even mentioning why Activision afraid(OH theyre afraid alright) of showing COD 4 on the wii and not even advertised it.

Activision was afraid that a watered down, downscale port could end the gaming world on PS360. 700,000 on NA alone of COD WAW and still selling was no laughing matter. Thats what i called disruption. Just remember, even the retailers didnt even knew COD WAWii when it first launched

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

"And I quote: In order to save the gaming industry, developers have to start making classics."

I would change that to "Focus on making classics instead of big, expensive productions. Make games that are fun and lasting instead of going to the used game stores."

I do still play my PS2 GTA games, because they are lasting for me. I'm not sure if GTA IV would do the same.

UCG as a substitute for a strong game -- usually not a good idea. But also not a new idea (remember the Pinball Construction Set for the C64).

UGC as a complement to a strong game -- a good idea. That is what LBP for the PS3 aimed to achieve.

Malestrom does not seem to be able to make these distinctions -- which are not at all subtle. Instead, he is beginning to see everything as either black-or-white, his-way-or-the-highway, right-or-wrong, red ocean-or-blue ocean.

For almost everything in this world, there are many shades of gray (or purple). The ability to see this separates successful pragmatists from unsuccessful ideologues.

Now, how would you characterize Shiggy and Sean? Think about it -- but not too much as it should be fairly obvious at this point.

And as for the comments by Shigeru Miyamoto, I see something much more akin to SSBB stages or LBP than a construction kit.
