I may be a coincidence but this system never shut down while playing a game before. I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that this game is pushing the system more then any other. The visuals are easily the best I've ever seen.

Anyone know if it's possible to retrive save game data. Is any of it on the HDD?

I'm deliberating now if I should pay sony for the repair or buy one off this dude on CL for basicly the same price.

A game can look like a pile of crap and still push the GPU and CPU as hard as U2 if the game is coded very inefficiently.  Try folding on your PS3 as that will push the CPU far harder than Unchartered 2 can and should emulate the same fault too.

Does anyone know if you send your PS3 to Sony if they wipe all your data? REally don't want to lose 40 hours of Demons Souls.

Teh Cell can't handle it. Uncharted 3 will make slims explode.

On a more series note: This happened around the time GTA4 and CoD4 launched as well. This games were heavily played and sold huge. Systems mess up everyday, they just happened to be playing these games at the time, then people post about what they were playing when their system broke. End result: ZOMG X game breaks systems!!!

However I've personally had my system run really hot playing CoD4 and GTA4 compared to other games. Just by playing and messing around for a few hours and you'll see that GTA4 is a very demanding game for processors [heck, look at the specs for the PC version]. As for CoD, I just assume it wasn't optimized that well. The game was released in the systems first full year so that's understandable.

well mu U2 does load rather slow.

but its also 3 inched from a huge heater that is my plasma and next to my pc, sure the mofo gets loud and hot but no issues here so unless you got more heat giving electronics around your PS3 them me you should have no issues.

It only loads in the beginning.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

^What Kylie said. Same thing with Firmware updates, any time there is a new firmware update the PS forums are bogged down with people saying it bricked their consoles, same idea.

And to the guy who said my PS3 will YLOD of the next few months...why? because the cooling system is doing it's job? it is 75 Degrees in my house and its normal for the fan to be on its second setting, and has been that way since i purchased it nearly 2 years ago. I have never had any shut downs due to heat ever.

lol I know somebody who has a slim that froze after hours and hours of gameplay during the start of the train level, but just turned it off and on again then kept going without problems. game makes the system run hot either way it seems.

My PS3's OS crashed during a demo once, and I hardly play it. After 5 On/Offs it was fine. It fixed when I got an HDMI cable. It's probably just bug from playing it that long.

yeah it's probably that, it only happens after long session of LBP. U2 is fine.
