Can someone explain to me why I suck so badly?

I am playing on an extremely low difficulty, am new to the game (and admittedely the genre.  I play RTS but not TBS games).

What am I doing so wrong?

I build up for a while, someone declares war, I get crushed.

I think it's your attitude. You're like in real life, a bit too cocky and overconfident.

How do you enjoy the game (is it PC version?)?

It is so good. Or at least, I can see why it would be so good. Except I SUCK At it.

It'd be hard to top me picking up Radiant Dawn at $20. I'll find out at some point, I'm sure.
