Forums - Nintendo Discussion - UK Price *Raise* for Wii?!

Can anyone clear this up for me? I was doing some research for where the cheapest place to get a Wii was, as I was thinking of getting one, and was shocked when the average price seemed to be ~£250, which is virtually exactly the same as the 360 Premium. I swear the price used to be £180, has Nintendo raised it due to large demand?

This would be so insane if it is true XD.

Its bundled with games.

 2008 end of year predictions:

PS3: 22M

360: 25M

wii: 40M

There is no price hike. Most online places either have it bundled with games, or it is being sold by other users, and they hike the price up. Buying the Wii online is a bad idea. Try to find it in shops, it'll be the real price.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up, I presumed it'd be cheaper online. Weird.

@ zackblue & Soriku, that is the case with the first link, but not with the other 2.

Both Amazon and Play.com are sold out. Other users who sell on those sites are offering it for jacked up prices so they can make a killing. Sometimes you can get deals online, but usually not on products in high demand, especially since we are heading into a very busy holiday season for gaming.

yeah the prices at sites are hire than stores

indeed, first link is to GAME who are frankly s*%* ...looking at the site they have no options to buy it without a game [might just be online i dunno]

3rd and 5th link show amazon and play.com, neither of which have any in stock so the only prices you see are "second hand" [although a lot will be bought just to sell them at a profit so not really used]

Also just for future referance. Price hikes are rarely endorsed by the manufacturer and usually up to independant retailers. Like here in Canada the Nintendo suggested retailer price is now 269.99$ however I have seen retailers selling Wii for 289.99 or 299.99$.

When a retailer realizes that stock amounts are down and that demand is up. They may raise their prices to take advantage of the shortages but that usually does not reflect the views of the manufacturer who is trying to boost their sales.
