Forums - Nintendo - The Wii Fit Plus/ $199 Wii commercial has aired. Now what?

Yesterday, I saw the Wii Fit Plus commercial. At the end of the ad, it stated that the Wii was now at the new low price of $199 MSRP.

Now that the word is out, will sales trend upward due to unknowing consumers, or do they all already know?

Yeah the ad started a week ago actually and it most likely will bring sales up.

Oh and in a related story, I told my mom about the Wii Fit Plus (because she keeps on complaining about little time to excercise) and showed her the website video of yoga demonstrations in the game. She got excited about it and when I told her the game cost $100 (we didn't buy the balance board yet) she was still excited about it and she usually is price sensitive.... She wanted to wait for a price cut but I told her how Nintendo barely puts any software price-cut so far.

So now we're going to buy the game for her today. I really thought a $100 video game would have a hard time selling, but I guess not.

Are they not already trending upward?

I don't really know what will happen, since it's so close to the holiday season (usually starts November 1st). While ioi has stated that this week's Wii sales could be higher than last week's, it'll be interesting to see how the rest of October plays out.

Will people rush out and buy it in droves now, or will they wait a little bit for when the Christmas songs start playing on the radio a month too soon?

Now what?

Dogs, cats & even mice will buy wii fit!

Well, seeing as Wii Fit Plus lets you weigh your pets, anything can happen.

(Don't know about the mice market yet, we'll have to see)

According to Miyamoto in Iwata ask interview, you can weigh anything. O_o I think he even added a minigame in it if I read the interview right.

And apparently Miyamoto has an obsession with measuring things from that interview as well.

I've seen that commercial, and thought it was really well done. I guess we will see about Wii hardware sales, but I definitely think Wii Fit Plus will be off to a good start.
This is a little off topic, but does anybody remember last holiday period that Nintendo had a large advertising campaign for the Wii planned, then canceled it due to shortages? If that happened last year, but this year they are able to go through with an aggressive advertising campaign, that may really help Wii sales this year.

Wii sales will be strong until after the holidays

Now, more money gets printed.

Retailers have been promoting it like hell in fliers, too. I also saw some kind of Wii Sports promotion with CSI which should raise more awareness.
