Forums - Gaming - Top 5 Surprisingly Good Games of the Generation

Well, there are a few that I wouldn't consider a "surprisingly good" experience. I, personally, always believed that Burnout Paradise and Dead Rising would good experiences, but to each his own I suppose.

Also, this has to be considered subjective, there are plenty of games that someone may have thought was "surprisingly good" that others may not.

-Condemned: Criminal Origins - STILL my top game of this generation. I knew it'd be good as survival horror game. I NEVER expected to enjoy it nearly as much as I have other survival horror games from past generations.

Yup maybe I should have put my top 5 in the thread title but I do ask for other people's opinions which would indicate it is subjective like anyone's preferance of any game. In my opinion there's always someone who hates a game that someone else loves.

By listing the top 5 I meant games that were the best of hte ones that surprised you. Dark Sector might have been really good compared to what you thought it would be, but it may not be your top 5 surprisingly good games of the generation or it might.

And Condemned would be in my top 10 version of this list, I enjoyed that game a lot too.

Burnout Paradise was almost unplayable for me at first. Horribly dissapointed.

After the great support from Criterion, it's at least playable now. Still too much frustration IMO

Is it because you can't restart races? You just drive back and do it again, you'll probably run intp 10 other events on your back to the starting point and do one of those.

That's one of the reasons.

Also horrible mini map, which leads to repeatingly pressing the Start button (or was it Select ?) in the middle of races, because you have no idea where you're driving.

Result: Breaking your boost chain.

Another one: The AI takes a completely different route most of the time. So you can't takedown any of them = boring and critical when you accidentally crash into anything on your solo tour.

Where Dead Space?

That was probably the biggest suprise of 2008.

I actually expected taht to be good so I didn't include it in the list, but yeah that was a fantastic game and what RE5 should have been more like.
