The same question can be asked as to how can anyone not enjoy the movie. It all comes down to personal opinion ;)

A lot of movies would be made to look bad after LOTR ;) Give it another go one of these days then, maybe you'll see it in another light, if not, that's ok too, everyone has his/her own opinions ;) (Except for your sig, which i agree, SNES was, is and will always be the best console ever!)

I definitely heard that Miyamoto drew inspiration from the film, although I can't remember my source. Who told you that it was an incorrect theory? The simlarities are definitely there.

I'll try and watch it again not expecting epic battles and huge fantasy cities and such. Maybe I'll enjoy it :)

Been a long time since I've seen this one. But the pinnacle of 80s fantasy films is The Dark Crystal, IMO.

You mean like Zelda sending Link on the quest for the 3 Spiritual Stones that ended up letting Ganondorf into the Sacred Realm, claim the Triforce of Power and take over Hyrule?
Anyways, haven't heard of the movie, and I'm over 20. Don't plan to see it, because it looks and sounds kinda dumb. Good thing I'm not a "serious" Zelda fan.
