i've only played one FPS.. but when i get my PS3 (if it ever happens ;_;) i'll be wanting some good ones... would HL2 be too difficult for someone with as little experience as me?

Well yeah it's quite a bit harder than Bioshock.
EDIT: On which difficulty did you play Bioshock and did you die at least once ?
I need to play this aswell. But does the game come with Half Life 1 aswell? I don't want to miss out on the story.
Half Life 2 + Episode 1 and 2 are, as Disolitude said, the best FPS experience you can get. So many awesome moments. And it's quite long as well. It would probably take at least 20 hours to go through it all.

Well it's at least worth a try.
Actually, the Orange Box is worth every penny and it's damn cheap anyway...
thank you for the advice Barozi, i think my sister's bf has the Orange Box on 360.. so might try it out first and see what its like/whether or not im any good at it.

None of the COD BS of "pick up rocket launcher to stop the tank!!!" over and over...what if I don't want to get rocket launcher? Anywho, HL2 and Halo 1 to me are 2 FPS games that will never be topped as far as single player campaign is concerned. The genre is too saturated now for anything to stand out as those 2 games did... |
Meh, I disagree. I think Modern Warfare's SP was more exciting and much more varied, with a better in game story, though admittedly shorter, than HL2. If CoD4 would have been able to make a 20 hours FPS that kept up the same quality, it would not only be the best FPS ever made, it would be the best game.
HL2's best feature is its puzzle solving, and just the experience as a whole is great. TOB is one if not the best game this generation, but HL2 alone though, is a fantastic game, but imo, Portal is just as good, and so is CoD4.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

It'll start off boring, but stick with it until it becomes addictive and you won't regret it. The worst part about HL2 itself, is the battery on the flashlight(which is patched in episode 2 on TOB, due to user complaint) and the slow beginning if you've never played HL1. That said, if you do get into it, you'll find it hard to match the experience in first person shooting, even amongst the best games in that genre.
