Forums - Nintendo - Just got another 3 stars on Mario F*ing Kart

Seriously, this shit is driving me just about insane. I have 3 stars on everything on 50 and 100. As for 150cc, I have 3 stars for Mushroom and Shell cup. So I have 6 more cups to get 3 stars on before I unlock 150cc mirror, then I will have to get 3 stars 8 more times FUCK!

This shit is so hard, but I feel very happy that I just got 3 stars on mushroom cup. I think next I will tackle banana cup.

Has anybody else dedicated time towards the impossible task of getting 3 stars next to your name online? (I have done it for the DS version.. wasn't nearly as difficult, but it was still very hard.)

[Edit: I also want to add that I use Peach with The Standard Medium Bike. Wiimote+Nunchuk and manual drifting. Does anybody have any tips for getting 3 stars?]

Yah. A bunch of peeps in the Mario Kart League are rockin' the 3 stars.

Nice choice - I use Peach with the Mach Bike as well (online matches), though I can't remember if I used her to pick the 3 stars up. She's probably fine, it may take a lot of practice, but once you're good enough it's possible to get 3 stars pretty consistently. Taken from here (click link for more details):

Here's a summary on how to get a 3-Star Rank:

To get a 3-star Rank:

Get 1st place in all 4 races.
Finish the race as fast as possible.
Stay in the lead for as long as possible.
Don't go off-track unless you are using star, mushroom, bullet pill, or Boo(ghost)
.
Don't fall off the track.
Don't hit the wall or course obstacles.

As for actual racing tips, take advantage of wheelies (especially after a drift boost). Try not to do anything risky for small gains (avoid making mistakes). Also, uh...

Yeah. No clue what else to say, dunno if that helps...

Good luck~

- Change bike (Dolphin, Bowser and Mach bikes are very good)
- Switch to Classic Controller or GC
- Have some patience implants

Ok, the main thing I do to try to get three stars is stay in the lead as long as possible and use wheelies whenever I get the chance (I also always use tricks.) Those are pretty much the two main things I focus on. I wasn't aware that hitting the wall or objects can ruin it for you. What if you get hit by a blue shell or something unfortunate happens to you? Is it best to just quit?

I don't do the 3 stars stuff. I got up to 2 stars on every single cup on Mario Kart DS, and I didn't even bother on the Wii. Unlocking every character is good enough for me in my old age.

A blue shell isn't terrible, unless it prevents you from getting first (or keeps you out of first for a very long time). I think hitting obstacles is worse (takes away hidden points), and falling off the map is pretty much a game ender.

edit: Really sucks when lightning / POW's lead you off the map. Happened in Rainbow Road a few times, gotta redo the whole thing...

edit2: Realized you used the standard medium bike, which =/= Mach Bike. Use the Mach Bike!

I gave up. I don't have what it takes to be a Triple-Star Kart God.

it was really hard though, i used mario with the dolphin bike, lots of wheelies. i did it with automatic beleive it or not! it was very rewarding :)

btw: i used the Wiimote + nunchuck combo.

No need to switch controllers, Wiimote+Nunchuck is best option for bikes (and bikes are superior to karts mostly anyway) Especially if you are already used to it... changing to GC now is a bad idea IMO. And while it probably doesn't make a huge difference for single play, it is better to use dolphin/bullet, mach/nitro or bowser bike in multiplayer.
