I'm all for retro stuff but this looks terrible. :-

Huh? Elaborate.

It's slow, ugly and looks amazingly boring. I understand the creators went for an original style, but it ends up looking ridiculously bad.

So you didn't like Zelda: A Link to the Past?

It's basically an exact remake lol

Not at all. Zelda games breathe atmosphere, this game doesn't at all.

Even I like this game, and it's not normally the kind of game i go for, there is nothing wrong with the atmosphere at all ^^
The more i see this the more i want to buy it, it seems to captured alot of the magic from the original zelda games, it makes me lool at just how similar it is to the original zelda.

it's the future of handheld

You look at this, then you look at Demon's Souls....and you wonder how they are made by the same Dev. One wants to kill you at every corner, one lets you play with lego.

The game does look a little mundane at this point, but I'll give it time. DS looked like a overall mess when it was first shown and look what that turned in to.

@Hiko

They can't get sued.

@Chrizum

You can tell how this game's atmosphere is by watching a few video clips? I have watched many clips of Demon's Souls and it wasn't enough to show me how that game's atmosphere was.

People who played it so far say it is great. So that is actually something tangible we can work with.

Hopefully your view is changed by the time this game releases.

@Stats87

Demon's Souls was developed by From Software. 3D Dot Game Heroes is developed by Silicon Studio and is published by From Software.

Also, have you guys seen the boss battle video yet?

I just realized why we are getting video clips.

Today is 3D Dot Day. They have an open event for people to play this game.

I wish I was there.

Go here. Listen to the 4 music tracks on the main page.

Tell me #4 isn't awesome.

I feel it's almost a lil disturbing that it's ripping off Zelda so much. Maybe cause the music follows the exact same structure and it goes right into your soul.

That may sound hypocritical though since I don't have a problem with Dante's Inferno being a carbon copy of God of War.

@Slimebeast

It pays homage to numerous 8-bit titles. It is just that the gameplay is very similar to Zelda, Golden Axe Warrior, etc...

It also has some Alex Kidd, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Spelunker, etc...

Everything copies something else in one way or another.

If the gameplay still works great I see no reason to complain. Would everyone really be happier if we just let that style of gaming stay dead? I just don't get it sometimes.

As I said Im not sure about it. I just got this sort of uncomfortable feeling when I keep hearing the Zelda tunes in my head watching those video clips, the music is that similar. So I can't decide if it's only paying homage, or if it's also stealing credit from other people's creations.

It would be fun to know how Miyamoto feels. Cause usually not every original creator is happy about rip-offs. David Jaffe is just one example of many who get annoyed by copy-cats.

I fully agree with you about preserving older game styles though. In that way 3D Dot heroes is lovely.
