Forums - Sales - Sales share among the consoles; EA, Activision and Ubisoft

People are generally very interested whenever a company releases shipment data for their software, and people tend to be very surprised at it. So, I decided to make this thread to educate everyone (myself included) on this. Yay!

So, if we start out with Electronic Arts. This here combined Electronic Arts and EA Sports, as they are essentially the same company.

These are the total sales for the generation.

X360 sales: 57.16 million (50.1% of EA's sales) (21% of the sales on X360)

Ps3 sales: 29.35 million (25.7% of EA's sales) (18.7% of the sales on the Ps3)

Wii sales: 27.39 million (24% of EA's sales) (8.1% of the sales of Wii)

Total: 113.9 million (15% of the sales this generation)

Activision (includes Activision and Activision Blizzard)

X360 sales: 48.8 million (50.9% of Activsion's sales) (18.7% of the sales on X360)

Ps3 sales: 20.36 million (21.2% of Activision's sales) (13% of the sales on Ps3)

Wii sales: 26.67 million (27.8% of Activision's sales) (7.9% of the sales on Wii)

Total: 95.8 million (12.8% of the sales this generation)

Ubisoft

X360 sales: 25.15 million (42.3% of Ubisoft's sales) (9.6% of the sales on X360)

Ps3 sales: 14.04 million (23.9% of Ubisoft's sales) (9% of the sales on Ps3)

Wii sales: 19.53 million (33.2% of Ubisoft's sales) (5.8% of the sales on Wii

Total: 58.7 million (7.8% of the sales this generation)

It would have been nice if you used a fixed time frame for each console so we could compare them with each other but you didn't so everything is pretty useless except for the last section of data you posted comparing the different publishers. But it's pretty well known Ea is the biggest console publisher followed by Activision and Ubisoft is rather far behind.

I would like to know how many games each publisher released on each console and the average sales of each product.

Actually, it's far from useless information. It's very useful information if you want to know which company has succeeded most on what platform. Ubisoft has done well on the Wii, comparatively, and EA has done VERY well on the xbox. Different strategies work well on each platform, I guess.

The fact that the Xbox has been out a year longer than the other two makes almost no difference for software sales at this point, especially not the relative distribution of software sales for the three big third party publishers.

This is invisible text!

Then PS2 should be included too, since it is still a sales force in the market.

PC?

so those three big guns only manage to sell about 24% of Wii's software?

wtf is the other 76% of Wii's software?

In comparison to 360 which is about 50% of their sales from thsoe three companies.

Didn't know 360 is sooo important for 3rd party!!!
wow

if ubisoft released more games on the ps3 it'd likely be higher.. COUGH DARK MESSIAH !
