How about the sound?! Car engine, tire screech, clunks from mechanical parts? Engine sounds were weak in both 3 and 4 apart from a handfull of cars, shame on Polyphony for it! It's the only thing missing imo.

 I had my sound system off when playing GT5p, but with GT:HD when in the first person perspective it sounds great, being surrounded by speakers with the sub woofer shaking the room, it was great :)

i kind of fear the day they put actual damage modeling in GT... it'll be either soo beautifal that i'll want to crash all the time or soo realistic that it gets stuck in the uncanny valley.

 They actually plan to do it in the final version of GT5. There will be damages, day/night cycle and different weather conditions like in PGR4.

 Ah, my poor old bones shiver with anticipation then! This could be THE Gran Tursimo installment!! Sound is very important, heck; it's half the reason I own my current car...

Very impressive... It's confirmed to be in-game and not a post race playback taken from the perspective of in-car right?

 I'm not really sure how to tell, but the real one has 60FPS and the replay has 30FPS.  If you can tell what the video is running at you could tell.

GT 3 was amazing but the 4th was bad i thought, it better not be a repeat.

I agree with you about GT3 being amazing, but the most fun i had with the series was using the Escuda or whatever it was called back in GT2.  It was impossible to lose with the car, you could lap guys pretty fast.

Until I play GT5, I'm remaining skeptical. GT has sucked big time since 3, nuff said.

GT1 = Brilliant, revolutionary for racing games for it's amazing depth.

GT2 = The definitive GT, absolute perfection.

GT3 = Eh? Why did this go slow? Cars going 150MPH + don't go 'this' slow. Alright, but not brilliant.

4 = LOL! Crud.

Sorry :P

Judging from these pics not only do the cars look better (by a huge margin) but so do the backgrounds.
