PS3 and 360 use 2 different RAM architectures, and there are ways to optimize around the whole RAM problem, I'm sure of it.
Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!
Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Oh god, this again. Why the hell are we back to this argument? wasnt this argument a massive failure back in 2007?
PS3 = 512MBs
360 = 512MBs
Anyways, Risen cannot be ran properly on EITHER console due to MASSIVE ram constrants. You need 1GB of system ram and 256MB of dedicated GPU ram minimum.
@the oblivion argument. Oblivion isnt half as detailed as Risen. There are more trees and enemies in 40 feet in Risen then there are in 100 in Oblivion. Oblivion is outdated, period.
And no one bring up Warhawk or MAG arenas, they might be massive, but they really don't have much. SpeedTree was wonderful for them.

Thx a LOT, i thought i have to explain the same thing again, but you quite said it all, risen has a much higher of detail.
again guys, there's no reason to be pissed noone bashes your consoles they can do amazing graphics, they could even do crysis.
but if you remember ( im sure you dont ) back at 2007 or 08 crysis said, that the only reason why they cant port crysis to console - even with a bit weaker graphics - is the RAM.
ram is limiting consoles, but nevertheless they can have astonishing graphics, but not on a broad scale.
risen is for sure not the most beautiful game, but it's huuuuuuuuge AND high detail. thx.
How can 720p be considered HD when it looks like ugly snow grains on my 22'' screen?

Yes maybe, but it's not claustrophobic. Almost no other game is as open as Oblivion. Maps are huge, the scenes are huge. There's never invisible walls in Oblivion (which the Risen demo had lots of - although i know it gets more open in later stages). And its not cause it's primitive that they're able to pull it off, it's cause Oblivion uses the bubble system like in MMORPGs. (within a set area around the player all details are known, calculated and rendered, but outside the bubble the AI and environments are simpler)

Could they not have done somethig similar for the console version of Risen? And if this is true couldn't they have used this technique even on the PC version where they could have opened the game up to more users by having a lower system spec? Well, either way, I'll be getting this off Steam soon enough.

Exactly. I don't think Risen uses a bubble system, that might be the problem of the X360 version. So their solution was to compress and blur all the textures instead, no matter the view distance.
(I'm just speculating)
With the treatment it got on the 360? It deserved it.
I hope It hits the bargain bins real soon.
It's just that simple.
Disappointing, but hopefully it did better on PC. I'll stil get it when it comes to North America.
I picked this up on Steam, and while the core RPG style is great, the combat is just horrible. You have to hit a guy with a sword 50 times to get the kill and he has to hit you three times. They need to fix the damage or don't bother picking it up.
