Forums - Gaming - just come into a windfall - what to spend it on?

Just got a message saying i'm £2,000 better off - my father has just won a lot of money and is giving kids £2,000 each (i'm 35 years old and married and still getting hand outs but not complaining).

I'm gonna give the wife a grand and then spend a grand on nothing but games - the question is what to buy?

I have all 3 consoles and pretty sure i've played all Wii games to death so looking for 360 / ps3 games.

List so far is

Uncharted 2 (pre ordered)

Forza 3 (pre ordered)

I'd really like operation flashpoint but gonna have to do some review reading as Codemaster games tend to be a bit of a mixed bag for me personally.

Anyone have any hidden gems that'd be worth getting?  my favourite game is Mass Effect so i'd like so action driven RPG style game but i cannot get away with turn based games so any suggestions on that line would be greatly appreciated.

Are you positive you want to blow it all on games? You don't want to pay back debts, maybe put it into a CD, or keep at least some of it for the inevitable rainy day?

No? Good man!

I'm assuming your collection on this site is complete. I can't really get a read on you based on your collection, though. What genres do you HATE?

Well I presume Valkyria Chronicles and Demon's Souls would be fine with you. And Folklore. All PS3 (cause that's what i know).

Oblivion
Assassin's Creed ii
Risen
Forza 3
Splinter sell convition
Fallout 3
Dante's Inferno
Fable
Fable II
Fable III
Alan Wake
Rage
Kingdom Under Fire II

Those are gems I warmly recommend!

These

If you don't have Valkyria Chronicles, I'd recommend that for the PS3. For the 360, Civilization: Revolutions was a HELL of a game (also available for PS3, though I bought it for my 360). Man I might play that again tonight. For 360 "exclusive" you should play Shadow Complex, that is kick ass too.

The first two are games that sold, well not gangbusters, so may be considered hidden, and gems...ergo...hidden gems. But I digress.

my games collection is now up to date, Valkyria Chronicles looks interesting although it does seem to be very heavy turn based. I'll need to read the review later and see what it's about exactly.

I've been wanting to get into RPG's for a while so maybe this is a good place to start. Oblivion is also something i've piucked up off the shelf and put it back down a few times now - maybe i'll also give that a crack.

Recommending Risen is like offering someone turd for a gourmet dinner... Also I'm not sure if the OP has a time machine, so maybe shopping in the future is not the option. And once again... Risen is crap.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising
