How about we wait until January before we dismiss the ps3 chances of beating the 360 or declaring the 360 has no chance! If one system outsells the other by over a million in the all important November-December sales rush we will be able to judge it a little better!! We will also have a better idea after seeing how much hardware Final Fantasy pushes in Japan!!

Come on, time to face facts.................. Sony just played their last trump card (ps3 slim) and all the more worryingly for sony is that they were forced in to launching the slim in order to stay in the game.
(I suspect it was launched earlier than planned too which obviously doesn't help their situation)

Sales have been good for sony lately thanks to the slim (or "last throw of the dice" as i like to call it) but Microsoft still have plenty left in the tank in terms of price drops and appealing bundles ect.

3rd place is beckoning for sony......... bottom line____________________

nice opinion! wheter it happens or not is yet to unfold but lets face facts here, the ps3 is already ahead outside of america and its ust reached an affordable price. people so underestimated the ps3 that predictions of only 250k were made for 1st wek ps3 slim! look how that turned out and since then ps3 has been surpirsing everyone! lets just wait and see what happens but all i can say is that we'll know much more by january 1st 2010

dude you bias is stupid! especially the part about microsoft having more left in the tank! the last price drop hardly raised 360 sales. price isnt a factor for 360 anymore. the only increases 360 is gonna see now are huge game releases.

Umm okay I guess we all have our own opinions. You do realize the PS3 has outsold the 360 by over 800,000 in the past 5 weeks. What makes you think PS3 can't catch the 360. The PS3 will easily bowl over the 360 this holiday and into 2010 until MS drops the arcade and elite to $149 and $249 respectively.

All you mentioned is NATAL which may or may not succeed, Halo reach which will sell well but will it move any hardware?, and a fairly inevitable price drop which won't be until sometime in 2010.

PS3 has Gran Turismo 5 which will move consoles and other great games like Uncharted 2, God of War 3, MAG, etc (go to ign for a full list) which won't individually move consoles but will make the PS3 look better when people are deciding on what console to buy and should give it the edge. And since you mentioned motion controls, Sony's wand thing will be out sometime.

My prediction - 360's lead over PS3 will only be 4-5 million by end of 2010 and PS3 will be ahead by end of 2011.

It outsold the 360 by 800,000 the past 5 weeks, an average of 160k / week, impressive.

It outsold the 360 by 80k last week, half the average, still not too bad, but PS3 is still declining.

I'd say it will level off at 50k-60k lead per week, equalling a 240k-300k lead per month. It would still take several years to catch up at this rate.

We'll have to wait after Xmas to be able to make even vaguely reliable predictions. Obviously people doing lunatic ones now will keep on doing them even then.

Problem with averages is they dont take into account Christmas, or big games released.

In reality, it could only be 3 years, maybe 2.
